Recensione, in Storia e politica, anno I,n.1,2009

2009

The Unnamed Machiavellian Prince: A Hypothesis

2017

For some time, in my studies on Machiavelli, I have been working on the innovative meanings in his vocabulary. I have focused on two registers, the rhetorical and the religious, showing how Machiavelli, with unparalleled mastery, managed to convey the concepts of his revolutionary political theory. It is, indeed, no exaggeration to call his theory revolutionary.

Richard von Rorty va alla guerra contro i filosofi

2012

The article shows how Clausewitz’s reflections on the nature of war can help us to understand the place of Richard Rorty in contemporary philosophical debate. Rorty’s postmetaphysical philosophy is thought to be an attack against the basic idea that reality ought to correspond to the ideals described by philosophers. Pragmatist tradition allows Rorty to consider philosophy not as epistemology but as a continuous intellectual autobiography.

The essay proposes a comparison between the interpretations of the Risorgimento by Augusto Del Noce and Vittorio Frosini. Concepts of particular importance are the encounter between Catholicism and the liberal spirit or the juxtaposition …

2020

The essay reconstructs the presence and the role of Niccolò Tommaseo (1802-1874) in the Unification of Italy by examining the overall republican vision of Italy through his works, inspired by the ideas of liberal Catholicism. The paragraphs of the article highlight the cultural and political experiences he lived through, both in the years spent in exile in Paris and in the years before and after 1848. Particular attention is paid to the intellectual relationships that link Tommaseo to Florence, where he spends a good part of his life establishing himself as a writer and a patriot committed to national independence, always striving for a balanced relationship between Church and State even af…
