Multiplicities of charged kaons from deep-inelastic muon scattering off an isoscalar target

2017

Precise measurements of charged-kaon multiplicities in deep inelastic scattering were performed. The results are presented in three-dimensional bins of the Bjorken scaling variable x, the relative virtual-photon energy y, and the fraction z of the virtual-photon energy carried by the produced hadron. The data were obtained by the COMPASS Collaboration by scattering 160 GeV muons off an isoscalar 6 LiD target. They cover the kinematic domain 1 (GeV/c)2 < Q2 < 60 (GeV/c)^2 in the photon virtuality, 0.004 < x < 0.4, 0.1 < y < 0.7, 0.20 < z < 0.85, and W > 5 GeV/c^2 in the invariant mass of the hadronic system. The results from the sum of the z-integrated K+ and K- mu…

Light Quenched Hadron Spectrum and Decay Constants on different Lattices

1997

In this paper we study O(2000) (quenched) lattice configurations from the APE collaboration, for different lattice volumes and for 6.0 \le beta \le 6.4 using both the Wilson and the SW-Clover fermion actions. We determine the light hadronic spectrum and meson decay constants and study the mesonic dispersion relation. We extract the hadronic variable J and the strange quark mass in the continuum at the next-to-leading order obtaining m_s^{MSbar}(mu=2 GeV) = 122 +/- 20 MeV. A study is made of their dependence on lattice spacing. We implement a newly developed technique to extract the inverse lattice spacing using data at the simulated values of the quark mass (i.e. at masses around the strang…

Kaon mixing beyond the SM from N-f=2 tmQCD and model independent constraints from the UTA

2013

We present the first unquenched, continuum limit, lattice QCD results for the matrix elements of the operators describing neutral kaon oscillations in extensions of the Standard Model. Owing to the accuracy of our calculation on Delta S = 2 weak Hamiltonian matrix elements, we are able to provide a refined Unitarity Triangle analysis improving the bounds coming from model independent constraints on New Physics. In our non-perturbative computation we use a combination of N-f = 2 maximally twisted sea quarks and Osterwalder-Seiler valence quarks in order to achieve both O(a)-improvement and continuum-like renormalization properties for the relevant four-fermion operators. The calculation of t…

Perturbative generation of a strange-quark asymmetry in the nucleon

2004

We point out that perturbative evolution in QCD at three loops generates a strange-antistrange asymmetry s(x)-sbar(x) in the nucleon's sea just from the fact that the nucleon has non-vanishing up and down quark valence densities. The recently computed three-loop splitting functions allow for an estimate of this effect. We find that a fairly sizable asymmetry may be generated. Results for analogous asymmetries in the heavy-quark sector are also presented.

Hard and soft probe - medium interactions in a 3D hydro+micro approach at RHIC

2007

We utilize a 3D hybrid hydro+micro model for a comprehensive and consistent description of soft and hard particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC. In the soft sector we focus on the dynamics of (multi-)strange baryons, where a clear strangeness dependence of their collision rates and freeze-out is observed. In the hard sector we study the radiative energy loss of hard partons in a soft medium in the multiple soft scattering approximation. While the nuclear suppression factor $R_{AA}$ does not reflect the high quality of the medium description (except in a reduced systematic uncertainty in extracting the quenching power of the medium), the hydrodynamical model a…

"Table 1" of "Search for exclusive charmless B meson decays with the DELPHI detector at LEP"

1995

Two body decay modes. Upper limits at 90% CL. In computing of limits the fractions of B/(d,u)(0,-) and B/S0 mesons were assumed to be 0.39 and 0.12 respectively. Limits are given for the weighted average of the decay rates of the two neutral B mesons.
