WENO schemes applied to the quasi-relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell model for laser-plasma interaction
2014
Abstract In this paper we focus on WENO-based methods for the simulation of the 1D Quasi-Relativistic Vlasov–Maxwell (QRVM) model used to describe how a laser wave interacts with and heats a plasma by penetrating into it. We propose several non-oscillatory methods based on either Runge–Kutta (explicit) or Time-Splitting (implicit) time discretizations. We then show preliminary numerical experiments.
A Review of Born globals
2018
AbstractThis article synthesizes and categorizes twenty years of research on “International New Ventures” and “Born Globals” (INV/BG). A total of 7,793 citations are used to create a citation map consisting of the field’s top contributions. These citations are, then, used to identify the most influential articles—276 articles published in 45 ISI ranked journals. We employ bibliometric co-citation analysis to distinguish six distinct research streams including “International intensity and Global diversity,” “Market Orientation,” “Entrepreneurial Perspectives,” “Capabilities,” “Networks and Social Capital,” and finally, “Strategic Choices and Environmental factors.” Based on our findings, we …
The Determinants of Retail Productivity: A Critical Review of the Evidence
2009
This paper discusses the literature on the established determinants of productivity in the retail sector. It also draws attention to some neglected strands of research which provide useful insights into strategies that could allow productivity enhancements in this area of the economy. To date, very few attempts have been made to integrate different specialisms in order to explain what drives productivity in retail. Here this paper rectifies this omission by putting together studies from economics, geography, knowledge management and employment studies. It is the authors’ view that quantitative studies of retail productivity should focus on total factor productivity in retailing as the resul…
Crowdfunding as a tool to support sustainability‐oriented initiatives: Preliminary insights into the role of product/service attributes
2019
A common goal of current research seems to uncover whether crowdfunding (CF) could be considered an effective way to support sustainability-oriented initiatives in securing funding, due to diverging results emerging from literature. We claim that the objective of proving whether CF may benefit sustainability-oriented initiatives could be misplaced; rather, we deem more fruitful to understand how critical are some attributes of products/services pursued within CF campaigns to benefiting sustainability-oriented initiatives and increasing their odds of success in CF. We focus on food-related projects as in this sector, sustainability issues apply more than to any other human activities and con…
Does stakeholder engagement encourage environmental reporting? The mediating role of firm performance
2020
Stakeholder engagement policies have become a relevant strategy in firms because they may signal to stakeholders the commitment of the firm to the stakeholder’s needs and demands. In this research, we aim to examine whether firms with stakeholder engagement policies tend to disclose more environmental information. Additionally, we analyse the moderating role played by firm performance on the association between stakeholder engagement and environmental disclosure. As far as we know, previous research has not addressed these two questions. Our evidence shows that firms with stakeholder engagement policies are more likely to report environmental information, while firm performance negatively m…
Green supply chain management in manufacturing firms: A resource-based viewpoint
2022
As sustainability draws increasing attention due to the COVID-19 pandemic, interest in the green supply chain has likewise substantially increased. The present study contributes deeper insights into the logical integration of the resource-based characteristics that can facilitate the effective transition from traditional to green supply chains while also increasing the effectiveness of existing green supply chains. The proposed model, rooted in the resource-based view (RBV) theory, examines the associations of supply chain connectivity (SCC), supply chain information sharing (SCIS), top management commitment (TMC) and green procurement and logistics acceptance (GPLA) with green supply chain…
Comparing the legal treatment of employee-created intellectual and industrial property from a labour law perspective
2020
Under Spanish law, different intellectual creations, including those by employees, may be dealt with differently from a legal perspective. Works with authors' rights are regulated by the Spanish intellectual property law. In contrast, inventions made under a labour relationship, which may be used for industrial purposes, are regulated by industrial property laws and are thus governed by the Spanish patent and brands law. From a labour law perspective, this paper compares the two bodies of legislation to identify and justify the similarities and differences. The shortcomings of the legislation are highlighted and proposals for resolving these shortcomings are suggested based on synergies bet…
The Symbolism of Fear-Themed Drawings of Turkish and Polish Children
2023
The article presents results of a study on fear-themed drawings, which was conducted in groups of Turkish and Polish children. The aim of the study was to learn about fears presented by 6-10-year-old children. The study consisted in comparing symbols recognized in drawings made by children of the two nationalities and their interpretation, taking into account the cultural context. For the needs of the comparative analysis the authors formulated the following questions: What kind of symbolism appears in the pictures created by the examined children? What are similarities and differences in the symbolism presented in the drawings? How can one interpret the recognized symbols? The largest numb…
Invisibilia 2.
This study is dedicated to the work of Gianni Rizzoni who is one of the major translators of French detective stories in Italy and in particular of Sanantonio series created by Frédéric Dard. This article will deal with the translation of Auguste Le Breton’s books and the creation …
ChIP-Seq from Limited Starting Material of K562 Cells and Drosophila Neuroblasts Using Tagmentation Assisted Fragmentation Approach
2019
Chromatin immunoprecipitation is extensively used to investigate the epigenetic profile and transcription factor binding sites in the genome. However, when the starting material is limited, the conventional ChIP-Seq approach cannot be implemented. This protocol describes a method that can be used to generate the chromatin profiles from as low as 100 human or 1,000 Drosophila cells. The method employs tagmentation to fragment the chromatin with concomitant addition of sequencing adaptors. The method generates datasets with high signal to noise ratio and can be subjected to standard tools for ChIP-Seq analysis.
