Abstract In the paper, a numerical and experimental study was carried out to highlight the effect of the distance d between the weld seam and the reinforcement on the residual stress distribution in Friction Stir Welded AA6082-T6 structures. An L-shaped profile was welded to a sheet metal with varying tool rotation and distance d from the weld seam. The Cut Compliance method was used to determine the resulting longitudinal residual stress. A dedicated FE model for FSW was set up, validated and utilized to predict the longitudinal residual stress in the assembled part. The transverse elastic deflection of a traction belt along the free span depends mainly on the flexural stiffness, but may be significantly influenced by the distributed weight and the shear compliance, which affect together the width of the arc of contact. In particular, the shear compliance yields a virtual decrease of the flexural stiffness, flattens the free span and increases the wound regions, to the advantage of the transmissible torque. Abstract The current paper aims to study, using numerical simulation, the influence of the wall angle on the single point incremental forming process. For the analysis there has been used the LS-Dyna software and three explicit dynamic analyses were run for three parts with wall angles of 450, 550 and 650. The factors taken into account are the main strains, the thickness reduction and the forces on three directions. The material data introduced into the simulation were determined based on an uniaxial traction test on an Instron 5587 testing machine and the Aramis system was used as optical extensometer.

In this paper, a cold forming process is used where the connection between a pipe and a flange is created by means of radially expanding tool segments inside the pipe. The method is investigated with two purposes, to set up a robust procedure for the process that allows for connections to be made on site, and to set up finite element (FE) simulations that can capture the forces and deformations when pulling the pipe axially out of the flange. Abstract Rolling element bearings are crucial components in rotating machinery, and avoiding unexpected breakdowns using fault detection methods is an increased demand in industry today. Variable speed conditions render a challenge for vibration-based fault diagnosis due to the non-stationary impact frequency. Computed order tracking transforms the vibration signal from time domain to the shaft-angle domain, allowing order analysis with the envelope spectrum.
