3-loop heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering

2015

Abstract We present our most recent results on the calculation of the heavy flavor contributions to deep-inelastic scattering at 3-loop order in the large Q 2 limit, where the heavy flavor Wilson coefficients are known to factorize into light flavor Wilson coefficients and massive operator matrix elements. We describe the different techniques employed for the calculation and show the results in the case of the heavy flavor non-singlet and pure singlet contributions to the structure function F 2 ( x , Q 2 ) .

Nuclear Shadowing in a Parton Recombination Model

1993

Deep inelastic structure functions $F_2^A(x)$ are investigated in a $Q^2$ rescaling model with parton recombination effects. We find that the model can explain experimentally measured $F_2^A(x)$ structure functions reasonably well in the wide Bjorken$-x$ range ($0.005<x<0.8$). In the very small $x$ region ($x<0.02$), recombination results are very sensitive to input sea-quark and gluon distributions.

Nuclear effects in F_3 structure function of nucleon

2008

We study nuclear effects in the $F^A_3(x)$ structure function in the deep inelastic neutrino reactions on iron by using a relativistic framework to describe the nucleon spectral functions in the nucleus. The results for the ratio $R(x,Q^2)=\frac{F^A_3(x,Q^2)}{AF^N_3(x, Q^2)}$ and the Gross-Llewellyn Smith(GLS) integral $G(x,Q^2)=\int_x^1 dx F^A_3(x,Q^2)$ in nuclei are discussed and compared with the recent results available in literature from theoretical and phenomenological analyses of experimental data.

Polarized structure functions of the nucleon in the resonance region

2000

Abstract We present predictions for the spin structure functions of the proton in the framework of a unitary isobar model for one-pion photo- and electroproduction. Our results are compared with recent experimental data from SLAC. The first moments of the calculated structure functions fullfil the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn and Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rules within an error of typically 5–10%.

Spin asymmetry A1d and the spin-dependent structure function g1d of the deuteron at low values of x and Q2

2007

Abstract We present a precise measurement of the deuteron longitudinal spin asymmetry A 1 d and of the deuteron spin-dependent structure function g 1 d at Q 2 1 ( GeV / c ) 2 and 4 × 10 −5 x 2.5 × 10 −2 based on the data collected by the COMPASS experiment at CERN during the years 2002 and 2003. The statistical precision is tenfold better than that of the previous measurement in this region. The measured A 1 d and g 1 d are found to be consistent with zero in the whole range of x.

Quasielastic Versus Inelastic and Deep Inelastic Lepton Scattering in Nuclei at x > 1

1997

We have made a thorough investigation of the nuclear structure function W_2A in the region of 0.8 < x < 1.5 and Q^2 < 20 GeV^2, separating the quasielastic and inelastic plus deep inelastic contributions. The agreement with present experimental data is good giving support to the results for both channels. Predictions are made in yet unexplored regions of x and Q^2 to assert the weight of the quasielastic or inelastic channels. We find that at Q^2 < 4 GeV^2 the structure function is dominated by the quasielastic contributions for x < 1.5, while for values of Q^2 > 15 GeV^2 and the range of x studied the inelastic channels are over one order of magnitude bigger than the quas…

ν(ν¯)−208Pb deep-inelastic scattering

2012

Nuclear-medium effects on the weak structure functions ${F}_{2}(x,{Q}^{2})$ and ${F}_{3}(x,{Q}^{2})$ in charged-current neutrino and antineutrino induced deep-inelastic reactions in ${}^{208}$Pb have been studied. The calculations have been performed in a theoretical model using relativistic nuclear spectral functions which incorporate Fermi motion, binding, and nucleon correlations. We have also included the pion and rho meson cloud contributions calculated from a microscopic model for meson-nucleus self-energies. Using these structure functions, differential scattering cross sections have been obtained and compared with the CERN Hybrid Oscillation Research Apparatus (CHORUS) data. The res…

Complete angular analysis of polarized top quark decay atO(αs)

2002

We calculate the O(alpha_s) radiative corrections to the three spin independent and five spin dependent structure functions that describe the angular decay distribution in the decay of a polarized top quark into a W-boson (followed by the decay W^{+} -> l^{+} + nu_l or by W^{+} -> anti-q + q and a bottom quark. The angular decay distribution is described in cascade fashion, i.e. the decay t(uparrow) -> W^{+} + X_b is analyzed in the top rest system while the subsequent decay W^{+} -> l^{+} + nu_l (or W^{+} -> anti-q + q) is analyzed in the W rest frame. We present our results for the eight O(alpha_s) integrated structure functions in analytical form keeping the mass of the bottom quark fini…

Precise pion electroproduction in thep(e, e? ?+)n reaction at W=1125 MeV

1996

The reactione+p →> e+π ++n at c.m. energyW=1125MeV and momentum transfer Q2=0.117GeV2/c2 has been measured. The transverse and longitudinal structure functions have been separated by varying the polarization of the virtual photon (Rosenbluth plot) with a 3 to 4% error. In addition the longitudinal-transverse interference term has been determined measuring the right-left asymmetry with an accuracy of 3%. The experimental data are compared to model calculations, and the sensitivity of the results to the axial and pion formfactors is discussed.

Small Angle Neutron Scattering from Systems of Interacting Particles. Modelling High Density Micellar Fluids

1992

The need for analytical solutions of the scattering equation for complex situations (polydisperse samples, scattering from non centrosymmetrical particles, etc.) has somehow escaped the attention of the workers in the Small Angle Scattering field, although it is clear that, at the level of sophistication today available for the experiments, a more rigorous approach is necessary. For quite a few years our group has been actively engaged in SANS research and has occasionally devoted its attention to develop alternative ways of data analysis based on more rigorous solutions of the scattering equation.
