Giacomo Serpotta nella chiesa di Sant'Orsola di Palermo. Studi e restauro

2011

Neutron-Induced Effects on a Self-Refresh DRAM

2022

International audience; The field of radiation effects in electronics research includes unknowns for every new device, node size, and technical development. In this study, static and dynamic test methods were used to define the response of a self-refresh DRAM under neutron irradiation. The neutron-induced effects were investigated and characterised by event cross sections, soft-error rate, and bitmaps evaluations, leading to an identification of permanent and temporary stuck cells, single-bit upsets, and block errors. Block errors were identified in different patterns with dependency in the addressing order, leading to up to two thousand faulty words per event, representing a real threat fr…

Effectiveness of glycinebetaine foliar application in relieving salt stress symptoms in two turf-grasses

2014

Salinity is one of the problems that has to be dealt with in turf-grass management, due both to restrictions in freshwater use for landscape irrigation and exposition to salt stress in coastal areas. This has led to the need to select salinity tolerant genotypes and test management practices, such as the application of osmoprotectants, in order to maintain turf quality at acceptable costs. We compared the effects of irrigation with 600 mM NaCl and glycinebetaine (GB) application for 8 weeks on pot-grown weeping alkaligrass (Puccinellia distans (L.) Parl.) and tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.). We selected two easily assessable parameters, total clippings fresh weight and chlorophyll…

Organic Heterojunction Devices Based on Phthalocyanines: A New Approach to Gas Chemosensing.

2020

Organic heterostructures have emerged as highly promising transducers to realize high performance gas sensors. The key reason for such a huge interest in these devices is the associated organic heterojunction effect in which opposite free charges are accumulated at the interface making it highly conducting, which can be exploited in producing highly sensitive and faster response kinetics gas sensors. Metal phthalocyanines (MPc) have been extensively studied to fabricate organic heterostructures because of the large possibilities of structural engineering which are correlated with their bulk thin film properties. Accordingly, in this review, we have performed a comprehensive literature surve…

Fourth-order cascaded Raman shift in AsSe chalcogenide suspended-core fiber pumped at 2 μm

2011

International audience; Cascaded Raman wavelength shifting up to the fourth order ranging from 2092 to 2450nm is demonstrated using a nanosecond pump at 1995nm in a low-loss As38Se62 suspended-core microstructured fiber. These four Stokes shifts are obtained with a low peak power of 11W, and only 3W are required to obtain three shifts. The Raman gain coefficient for the fiber is estimated to (1.6 +-0.5)x 10e−11 m/W at 1995nm. The positions and the amplitudes of the Raman peaks are well reproduced by the numerical simulations of the nonlinear propagation.

Suspended core tellurite glass optical fibers for infrared supercontinuum generation

2011

International audience; We report the fabrication and characterization of tellurite TeO(2)-ZnO-Na(2)O (TZN) microstructured suspended core optical fibers (MOFs). These fibers are designed for infrared supercontinuum generation with zero dispersion wavelength (ZDW) at 1.451 mu m. The measured losses at this wavelength are approximately 6 dB/m for a MOF with a 2.2 mu m diameter core. The effective area of a particular fiber is 3.5 mu m(2) and the nonlinear coefficient is calculated to be 437 W(-1)km(-1). By pumping a 20 cm long fiber at 1.56 mu m with a sub-nj femtosecond laser source, we generate a supercontinuum (SC) spanning over 800 nm in the 1-2 mu m wavelength range.

Crowdsourcing Cultural Heritage: From 3D Modeling to the Engagement of Young Generations

2016

Monitoring, digitizing and archiving museum artworks represent an important socio-cultural accomplishment and an overcoming in digital preservation today. Cultural heritage is constantly under threat of terrorist attacks and natural disaster. The high costs related to documentation task have prevented a constantly and massive survey activity. The low cost 3D image based acquisition and elaboration techniques of an object, allow to carry out a 3D photorealistic model in a short time. Therefore, a lot of museum adopted these techniques for the artworks archiving. Crowdsourcing activities can significantly speed up survey and elaboration procedures. If, on the one hand, these initiatives can h…

Investigation of the roles of AgrA and σB regulators in Listeria monocytogenes adaptation to roots and soil

2020

ABSTRACT Little is known about the regulatory mechanisms that ensure the survival of the food-borne bacterial pathogen Listeria monocytogenes in the telluric environment and on roots. Earlier studies have suggested a regulatory overlap between the Agr cell–cell communication system and the general stress response regulator σB. Here, we investigated the contribution of these two systems to root colonisation and survival in sterilised and biotic soil. The ability to colonise the roots of the grass Festuca arundinacea was significantly compromised in the double mutant (∆agrA∆sigB). In sterile soil at 25°C, a significant defect was observed in the double mutant, suggesting some synergy between …

Technology Impact on Neutron-Induced Effects in SDRAMs : A Comparative Study

2021

International audience; This study analyses the response of synchronous dynamic random access memories to neutron irradiation. Three different generations of the same device with different node sizes (63, 72, and 110 nm) were characterized under an atmospheric-like neutron spectrum at the ChipIr beamline in the Rutherford Appleton Laboratories, UK. The memories were tested with a reduced refresh rate to expose more single-event upsets and under similar conditions provided by a board specifically developed for this type of study in test facilities. The board has also been designed to be used as a nanosatellite payload in order to perform similar tests. The neutron-induced failures were studi…

L’Oratorio del Rosario in San Domenico

2002
