The 6th EDGG Research Expedition took place in summer 2013 in the Kuznetsky Alatau Mountains, part of the Altai-Sayanian mountain region (Republic of Khakassia, Russia). A group of 14 scientists from seven countries studied the variety of steppe vegetation in two regions of the "Khakassky" Reserve – Lake Itkul (Shira region) and Podzaploty (Ordzhenikidzevsky region). Standardised sampling procedures including nested-plot series and phytosociological relevés of 10-m2 plots were used to sample steppes of European-Siberian (Festuco-Brometea) and Central Asian (Cleistogenetea squarrosae) types. Festuclavin (1), 6-Cyano-6-nor-1 (3), 6-Nor-1 (5) und 6-Allyl-6-nor-1 (7) lassen sich in flussigem Ammoniak mit Kalium und dem entsprechenden Iodid in ihre 1-Allyl- und 1-Propyl-Derivate uberfuhren. Die Darstellung von 7 aus 5 wird beschrieben. Partial Syntheses of New Ergoline Derivatives from Clavine Alkaloids, V: Festuclavines Mono- and Disubstituted at N-1 and N-6 Festuclavine (1), 6-cyano-6-nor-1 (3), 6-nor-1 (5) and 6-allyl-6-nor-1 (7) were converted to their 1-allyl- and 1-propyl derivatives with potassium and the corresponding iodide in ammonia. The preparation of 7 from 5 is described.

L’importance de l’artisanat autunois et son développement jusqu’au iiie siècle prennent racine à Bibracte qui a su exploiter les ressources naturelles de son environnement et parfaire un savoir-faire local ayant survécu à la conquête. Les recherches sur ces activités manufacturières menées conjointement à Bibracte et à Autun nous offrent ainsi une opportunité d’étudier ces problématiques sur la durée. À Bibracte, puis à Autun, les artisans du métal sont omniprésents, mais d’autres métiers, aux témoins plus discrets, ont pu aussi êtres identifiés. Mediterranean wetlands are severely affected by habitat degradation and related loss of biodiversity. In this scenario, the wide number of artificial farm ponds can play a significant role in the biodiversity conservation of aquatic flora. In the present contribution we show the preliminary results of a study on Mediterranean farm ponds of north-western Sicily (Italy), aimed to investigating the environmental factors linked to the occurrence of submerged macrophytes (vascular plants and charophytes). Study and restoration of a stucco decorative cycle with figures, attributable to the Serpotta family

The article describes the innovative restoration of a decorative figured stucco, attributed to Giacomo Serpotta or to his family, with winged putti and a female figure sitting on a triumphal chariot. The work, in the past at the former Museo Nazionale and today at the Galleria Regionale di Palazzo Abatellis, can be dated between the late seventeenth century and the beginning of eighteenth century and is a testimony of the Baroque in Palermo.

The Database Species-Area Relationships in Palaearctic Grasslands (GIVD ID EU-00-003) is an initiative of the European Dry Grassland Group (EDGG) and primarily functions as repository for all data sampled during the EDGG Research Expeditions. During these expeditions two types of highly standardised sampling of dry grassland vegetation in the Palaearctic realm are carried out: (i) nested-plot sampling on squares of 0.0001, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10, and 100 m2; (ii) additional normal releves of 10-m2 plots. This work is part of a demanding project, called “Progetto Serpotta”, performed since 2000 in cooperation with Soprintendenza Beni Culturali of Palermo. Aim of the project is the restoration of the unique stucco's artworks moulded by Giacomo Serpotta and his co-workers end of 17th -beginning of 18th century. This paper is focused on the problem of salt efflorescences, that are widely present in all of the churches and oratories restored in the framework of “Progetto Serpotta”.
