Estimating Missing Information by Cluster Analysis and Normalized Convolution

International audience; Smart city deals with the improvement of their citizens' quality of life. Numerous ad-hoc sensors need to be deployed to know humans' activities as well as the conditions in which these actions take place. Even if these sensors are cheaper and cheaper, their installation and maintenance cost increases rapidly with their number. We propose a methodology to limit the number of sensors to deploy by using a standard clustering technique and the normalized convolution to estimate environmental information whereas sensors are actually missing. In spite of its simplicity, our methodology lets us provide accurate assesses.

Abstract Subduction and collision zones evolve differently from one another due to different rheological properties, different amounts of regional isostatic compensation, and the different mechanisms by which forces are applied to the convergent plates. Dukono, the predominant source of volcanic degassing in Indonesia, sustained by a depleted Indian-MORB

A compilation of the rare available reports indicates that this remote and hardly accessible volcano has been regularly in eruption since 1933, and has undergone nearly continuous eruptive manifestation over the last decade. Trends in global research in deforestation. A bibliometric analysis

The main aim of this study was to analyse topics of research, scientific production, collaboration among countries, and most cited papers on deforestation through a bibliometric and social network study of articles found in the Web of Science database. The most productive subject areas corresponded to Environmental Sciences, Ecology and Environmental Studies. The articles were published in 458 different journals. A total of 2051 research articles were obtained. The main challenges identified for deforestation include “land use change” “conservation” “climate change” “rain forest” and “reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation”. International audience; Ocean acidification in modern oceans is linked to rapid increase in atmospheric CO 2 , raising concern about marine diversity, food security and ecosystem services. Proxy evidence for acidification during past crises may help predict future change, but three issues limit confidence of comparisons between modern and ancient ocean acidification, illustrated from the end-Permian extinction, 252 million years ago: (1) problems with evidence for ocean acidification preserved in sedimentary rocks, where proposed marine dissolution surfaces may be subaerial. Noble gas magmatic signature of the Andean Northern Volcanic Zone from fluid inclusions in minerals

Trace volatile elements like He are key for understanding the mantle source signature of magmas and to better constrain the relative roles of subduction and crustal processes to the variability of along-arc chemical and isotopic signatures of magmatic fluids. Here we report on noble gas abundances and isotopic data of Fluid Inclusions (FIs) in eruptive products and/or fumarolic gases from the Colombia-Ecuador segment of Andean Northern Volcanic Zone (NVZ). Rare earths behaviour during the deposition of volcanic sublimates

Abstract In this study, the REE distribution between volcanic fluids and related solids in fumaroles with temperatures ranging from approximately 100 to 421 °C was investigated in different geological scenarios. The treatment of geochemical REE data was carried out by calculating the REE enrichment factors (EF REE ) relative to the volcanic host rocks in studied sites under the assumption that the REE transport takes place as silicate aerosol in volcanic fluids. Volcanic emissions link the oxidation state of the Earth's mantle to the composition of the atmosphere. Extensive, water-rich magma reservoir beneath southern Montserrat

South Soufriere Hills and Soufriere Hills volcanoes are two km apart at the southern end of the island of Montserrat, West Indies. Their magmas are distinct geochemically, despite these volcanoes having been active contemporaneously at 131-129 ka. We use the water content of pyroxenes and melt inclusion data to reconstruct the bulk water contents of magmas and their depth of storage prior to eruption. Pyroxenes contain up to 281 ppm H2O, with significant variability between crystals and from core to rim in individual crystals.
