Violent women in Spanish TV ads: Stereotype reversal or the same old same old?

2016

Why did different agencies, promoting diverse products, create three ads featuring violence perpetrated by women on their rather immature and submissive male partners in order to sell their products? I posit that the female viewers connect subconsciously with the image of the proactive female protagonists through the psychological mechanism in which we identify with ‘our like’ on the screen. This, in turn, allows for the projection of ‘common ground’, a positive politeness strategy, to favourably dispose the female audience towards the protagonists and, by extension, the products advertised. The success of these ads depends on women viewers identifying with the apparently dominant female pr…

Challenge of tacit knowledge in acquiring information in cognitive mimetics

2019

Intelligent technologies are rising. This is why methods for designing them are important. One approach is to study how people process information in carrying out intelligence demanding tasks and use this information in designing new technology solutions. This approach can be called cognitive mimetics. A problem in mimetics is to explicate tacit or subconscious knowledge. Here, we study a combination of thinking aloud in ship simulator driving and focus group commenting the solutions of subjects. On the ground of these early experiments, a multiple method combination seems to be the best way forward to solve problems of tacit or subconscious knowledge. peerReviewed

Some reflections on non-contractual obligations in cyberspace considering the Rome II regulation

2014

Internet penetration has created a revolutionary change in people's communication nowadays. By creating immaterial and elusive cyberspace, without borders and limits of communication a three-dimensional territorial concept has been transformed by globalizing social relations and reducing importance of regional or national dimensions. All situations taking place on the Internet also occur somewhere in the reality. Sometimes it is difficult to measure whether the events are random or unrelated to particular events. Technological progress offers new possibilities to change a user's real location either consciously or subconsciously. However, the law is highly territorial in nature. This articl…

The origin, definition and nature of the transconscious in the spirituality of Father Stăniloae

2022

In his important work, Orthodox Spirituality , Father Dumitru Staniloae considers that, besides the real existence of the subconscious, there exists in man another reality as well, comprising the superior divine energies found in the human heart and which he defined by using the modern notion of transconscious or supraconscious. Contribution: The present study emphasises on the origin, definitions and content of this concept in the work of Father Staniloae and its great importance in defining a way to know God and his salvation works, from the perspective of an anchorite and Christian mystic, engaged in the existential tension of communion with God.

La lecture lacanienne du roman durassien "Le Ravissement de Lol V. Stein" : l'expérience « autre » de l’inconscient et du langage

2020

Inscribed in human condition, Loss is an integral part of Duras’s work. It is a leitmotif of the novel Le Ravissement de Lol V. Stein (The Ravishing of Lol Stein), in which the feeling of love is shown as ambivalent, connected − on the one hand − with ecstasy, admiration and exaltation, and on the other – with suffering, loneliness, pain and absence. Considered from the Lacanist perspective, the text allows us to see the originality of Duras’s prose, which involves capturing the unspeakable, the thing that escapes rational analysis and conventional writing technique: the subconscious. The author refers to it both in the thematic and stylistic layers, thus emphasizing the fragmentary nature …

Le dégoût pour la raison face à la réalité sociale du XXe siècle dans des écrits choisis de Marguerite Duras

2020

One of the important problems raised in the works by Marguerite Duras is a specific opposition to rationalism, understood as the loss of meaning and absurdity of human existence in the face of the tragedy of World War Two. In this way, the author presents her attitude to Nazi barbarism, and in a broader context to the history of mankind. Her texts − exposing the writer’s doubts and obsessions − express the lack of logic of the world, the painful awareness of the inevitability of misfortune, existential emptiness, and the powerlessness of a man towards his own impotence. By rejecting “material life”, Duras’s work resounds with the contestation of rationalism illustrating the paradoxes of the…

Emerging Constructions in the L2 Italian Spoken by Low Literate Migrants

2019

The emergence of autonomous interlanguage constructions is widely recognised in the literature on L2 Italian. These constructions involve the overgeneralisation of functional forms learners are in the process of acquiring, e.g., siamo in siamo mangiare &lsquo
