Low-pressure-MOCVD LaMnO3±δ very thin films on YSZ (100) optimized for studies of the triple phase boundary

2000

Abstract This paper deals with the preparation of LaMnO 3± δ (LM) layers by low pressure-metal organic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD) using La(tmhd) 3 and Mn(acac) 3 as organometallic precursors. By thermogravimetric analysis, these precursors were found to be suitable for LP-MOCVD in a well-defined range of total pressure and temperature of sublimation. The activation energies of the sublimation process were found to be independent of the pressure within the appropriate range (0.06–3 kPa) and their values were 177 and 100.5 kJ mol −1 for La(tmhd) 3 and Mn(acac) 3 , respectively. LM layers of various thickness ranging between a few and a few hundred nanometers with a controlled La/Mn …

The functionalization of nanodiamonds (diamondoids) as a key parameter of their easily controlled self-assembly in micro- and nanocrystals from the v…

2014

We detail herein readily accessible processes to control previously unobserved robust self-assemblies of nanodiamonds (diamondoids) in micro- and nanocrystals from their mild vapor deposition. The chemical functionalization of uniform and discernible nanodiamonds was found to be a key parameter, and depending on the type of functional group (hydroxy, fluorine, etc.) and its position on the diamondoid, the structure of the discrete deposits can vary dramatically. Thus, well-defined anisotropic structures such as rod, needle, triangle or truncated octahedron shapes can be obtained, and self-assembled edifices of sizes ranging from 20 nm to several hundred micrometers formed with conservation …

Sublimable Single Ion Magnets Based on Lanthanoid Quinolinate Complexes: The Role of Intermolecular Interactions on Their Thermal Stability

2018

We report the design, preparation, and characterization of two families of thermally robust coordination complexes based on lanthanoid quinolinate compounds: [Ln(5,7-Br2q)4]− and [Ln(5,7-ClIq)4]−, where q = 8-hydroquinolinate anion and Ln = DyIII, TbIII, ErIII, and HoIII. The sodium salt of [Dy(5,7-Br2q)4]− decomposes upon sublimation, whereas the sodium salt of [Dy(5,7- ClIq)4]−, which displays subtly different crystalline interactions, is sublimable under gentle conditions. The resulting film presents low roughness with high coverage, and the molecular integrity of the coordination complex is verified through AFM, MALDI-TOF, FT-IR, and microanalysis. Crucially, the single-molecule magnet …

Perovskite solar cells employing organic charge-transport layers

2013

Thin-film photovoltaics play an important role in the quest for clean renewable energy. Recently, methylammonium lead halide perovskites were identified as promising absorbers for solar cells(1). In the three years since, the performance of perovskite-based solar cells has improved rapidly to reach efficiencies as high as 15%(1-10). To date, all high-efficiency perovskite solar cells reported make use of a (mesoscopic) metal oxide, such as Al2O3, TiO2, or ZrO2, which requires a high-temperature sintering process. Here, we show that methylammonium lead iodide perovskite layers, when sandwiched between two thin organic charge-transporting layers, also lead to solar cells with high power-conve…

Desh…

Effect of Mn Doping on the Optical Properties of Chalcogenide Compounds ZnS and ZnTe

2020

In this paper, the influence of the addition of Mn on the optical properties of the binary compounds ZnS and ZnTe deposited by a close-spaced vacuum sublimation method onto nonoriented glass at different substrate temperatures was considered. The spectral dependences of the transmittance T (λ), reflectance R (λ) and the absorption α (λ), as well as the bandgap for each material (Eg) were measured and calculated.

Intercomparison of volcanic gas monitoring methodologies performed on Vulcano Island, Italy

2004

[1] Volcanic gas emissions from fumaroles on the rim of La Fossa crater, Vulcano Island, Italy, were measured simultaneously using direct sampling (for H2O, CO2, total sulfur, HCl and HF), filter packs (for SO2, HCl, HF) and short-path active-mode FTIR measurements (for H2O, CO2, SO2, HCl and HF) in an intercomparison study in May 2002. The results show that Cl/F ratios were in good agreement between all three methods, and that FTIR and direct sampling determined comparable proportions of CO2 and H2O. Amounts of total S observed in direct sampling data were approximately double the amounts of SO2 measured with filter packs and FTIR. This difference could be attributed either to the fact FTI…
