Klemens Rzymski o sukcesji apostolskiej

2014

1910. anniversary of the death of Saint Clement of Rome, the third successor of Bishop of Rome, celebrated a few years ago († 101), became an opportunity to remind his teaching, which he left in the Epistle to the Corinthians, written by him. The content of this letter is an important witness of the emerging church organization. That, what was happening in Corinth and, without a doubt, in Rome, is one of the stages of the Church’s history of major importance. The contemporary situation related to the authority prompted the acceptance of the institutional proposal based on the Holy Scripture and the practice of the Apostles. Transferring saving mission “from hands to hands”, called apostolic…

Sex pheromones are not always attractive: changes induced by learning and illness in mice

2014

A male-specific major urinary protein named darcin is attractive to female mice, Mus musculus, stimulates a learned attraction to volatile components of a male's urinary odour and induces spatial learning. In this article we show that darcin also induces learned attraction for a previously neutral olfactory stimulus (the odorant isoamyl acetate), acquired by repeated presentation of both stimuli together. We hypothesize that this is a case of olfactory–vomeronasal associative learning, in which darcin acts as the unconditioned reinforcer. However, the presence of darcin is not always attractive to adult female mice. Urine from males parasitized by the nematode Aspiculuris tetraptera has no …

Phytoplankton equilibrium phases during thermal stratification in a deep subtropical reservoir

2008

SUMMARY 1. Equilibrium and non-equilibrium hypotheses have often been used to explain observations in community ecology. Published case studies have demonstrated that steady state phytoplankton assemblages are more likely to occur in deep lakes than in shallow mixed ones. 2. Phytoplankton seasonal succession was studied by weekly sampling in Faxinal Reservoir (S Brazil), a subtropical deep, clear, warm monomictic and slightly eutrophic reservoir. This study demonstrated an alternation of steady and non-steady state phases of phytoplankton assemblages with different dominant species during the steady states. 3. During the studied period, three steady states were identified with different dom…

Étude exploratoire des obstacles à la transition universitaire selon le vécu d’étudiants français et belges

2020

International audience; Transition to Higher Education constitutes a challenging adjustment step for students that deserves major investigation. Yet, the transition obstacles are still overlooked. Most of international studies focused on individual predictors of adjustment and consider transition to Higher Education as a universal and invariant process. However, contextual characteristics of educational environment should be considered because they don’t imply the same requirements for adjustment. In order to address this limitation, this paper realized an exploratory comparison of first year student experience between a French and a Belgian university. The results highlighted similarities …

ADME Prediction with KNIME: Development and Validation of a Publicly Available Workflow for the Prediction of Human Oral Bioavailability.

2020

In silico prediction of human oral bioavailability is a relevant tool for the selection of potential drug candidates and for the rejection of those molecules with less probability of success during the early stages of drug discovery and development. However, the high variability and complexity of oral bioavailability and the limited experimental data in the public domain have mainly restricted the development of reliable in silico models to predict this property from the chemical structure. In this study we present a KNIME automated workflow to predict human oral bioavailability of new drug and drug-like molecules based on five machine learning approaches combined into an ensemble model. Th…

Adding Domain Analysis to Software Development Method

2002

The researchers in the field of software development regard the reuse of components as one possible approach when creating quality software in less time and with fewer people. When components are used and created in the software development, one critical success factor is the use of domain analysis (DA). We report an action case study where the DA technique is first integrated into an existing software development method and then refined based on the experience of using it in a pilot project. The results indicate that our approach produces reusable components across a company-wide domain and eases the use of them in other development projects within domain.
