Success factors in distributed agile development : case study
2018
This thesis aimed to figure out success factors in distributed software development conducting literature review and empirical research. The motivation for this research rose from practical work experience and the notion that usage of agile development has increased same time as global distributed software development has become more common. The research question formed to investigate the topic was: “What are success factors in distributed agile development and what experiences about this combination already exists?” To answer research question, there were conducted literature review of existing literature and empirical case study research executed using theme interviews. In literature revi…
Physical activity and sedentary time in relation to academic achievement in children
2017
Objectives To investigate the independent and combined associations of objectively measured moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and sedentary time (ST) with reading and arithmetic skills. Design Cross-sectional/prospective. Methods Participants were 89 boys and 69 girls aged 6–8 years. MVPA and ST were measured using a combined heart rate and movement sensor and body fat percentage by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in Grade 1. Reading fluency, reading comprehension, and arithmetic skills were assessed using standardized tests in Grades 1–3. The data were analyzed using linear regression analyses and analyses of covariance with repeated measures. Results In boys, MVPA was directl…
The cumulative effect of positive and negative feedback on emotional experience
2021
The cumulative effect of positive or negative feedback on subsequent emotional experiences remains unclear. Elucidating this effect could help individuals to better understand and accept the change in emotional experience, irrespective of when they or others receive consecutive positive or negative feedback. This study aimed to examine this effect on 37 participants using self-reported pleasantness and event-related potential data as indicators. After completing each trial, the participants received predetermined false feedback; they were then assessed on a nine-point pleasantness scale. There were 12 false feedback conditions categorized into three valence types. The positive type consiste…
Koncepcja logistyki klasy światowej w świetle badań
2016
Przedsiębiorstwa stale poszukują sposobów tworzenia przewagi konkurencyjnej. W ostatnich latach można zauważyć rosnące znaczenie logistyki jako systemowej determinanty efektywności i sukcesu przedsiębiorstwa. Logistyka tworzy warunki i możliwości zdobycia i utrzymania trwałej, długofalowej przewagi konkurencyjnej przez przedsiębiorstwa i łańcuchy dostaw. Istotna rola przypisywana jest tzw. logistycznym potencjałom sukcesu przedsiębiorstwa, obejmującym zasoby logistyczne, zdolności logistyczne oraz kompetencje logistyki. Logistyczne potencjały sukcesu przedsiębiorstwa stanowią podstawę szeroko znanej na świecie koncepcji logistyki klasy światowej, opracowanej w Uniwersytecie Stanowym w Michi…
Investigating the success of ERP systems in Pakistan : end-users' perspective
2016
The global business environment is changing rapidly, and organisations from developing countries such as Pakistan have to re-engineer their business processes to meet the challenges of increased competition and rising customer expectations. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems intend to deliver many benefits, such as business automation, reduced operating costs, accurate demand forecasts, better decision-making and improved customer service. However, organisations adopting ERP systems encounter many types of problems that may lead to failures in processes, expectations and interactions. In order to address these failures, researchers have identified the critical success factors in the…
A kétnyelvűség lenyomatai : Célnyelvi interferenciák Terézia Mora Das Ungeheuer című regényében és magyar fordításában
2018
The German writer Terézia Mora (1971) grew up with a double, Hungarian-German linguistic identity. She reflects on her own bilingualism in many ways, also on the micro level of the text. How can this linguistic duality be kept in the Hungarian translation? What translation strategies are to be applied in order to keep the intentional foreignness of the original in the Hungarian target text, if this foreignness is produced by using the very characteristics of the Hungarian language in the German original? This case study focuses on the reflection of bilingualism and the translation problems arising from reflection in literary texts by studying examples taken from the novel Das Ungeheuer by T…
Why open educational resources repositories fail : the contribution of quality approaches to the success of repositories
2016
Over the last two decades, millions of Open Educational Resources (OER) have become freely available for teachers and learners online. These resources are usually accessible through Learning Object Repositories (LORs), which are databases with a user interface. LORs are rarely used to their full potential and often considered as ‘failures’. Previous studies have shown that quality has a critical role in the success of information systems such as LORs. However there are no common guidelines for quality assurance approaches for LORs, nor are there studies into the contribution made by different LOR quality assurance approaches to the success of a repository. Measuring quality and success have…
Encouraging the success of foreign students in schools: reinforcing problem solving in mathematics
2015
In the present chapter we will explore education success in mathematics, in particular as regards reinforcing problem solving, trying to overcome a widespread view of deficit, which leads to attention being focused on what students cannot do or do not know how to do and which, in the majority of cases, is due to poor language proficiency. By focusing solely on these areas one runs the risk of involving students in simple cognitive activities that require the memorisation of rules and algorithms and the application of resolution strategies, which have already been dealt with, instead of more complex cognitive activities such as problem solving and argumentation. The resolution of mathematics…
