Jāņa Jaunsudrabiņa personības un stāsta "Vēja ziedi" apguve 11.klasē
2017
AZITHROMYCIN IN AN OLDER WOMAN WITH DIABETIC GASTROPARESIS
2008
Diabetic neuropathy is a common chronic complication of diabetes and cause of significant morbidity and mortality, because it may involve the autonomous and peripheral nervous systems. Autonomic diabetic neuropathy is a challenging chronic complication of long-standing diabetes manifested with hypotension, syncope, gastroparesis, diarrhea, constipation, bladder dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, cardiac arrest, and/or sudden death. We present a case of diabetic gastroparesis in an older woman. The patient was an 83-year-old woman with a 40-year history of type 2 diabetes who was admitted with hypoglycemia, malnutrition, persistent vomiting, and obstinate constipation. After several unsuccessf…
Clinical experience of a tricomponent acellular pertussis vaccine combined with diphtheria and tetanus toxoids for primary vaccination in 22,505 infa…
1996
Abstract OBJECTIVES: To assess the safety and tolerability of 12 lots of SmithKline Beecham Biologicals' diphtheria-tetanus-tricomponent acellular pertussis vaccine (DTaP) in a large cohort of 22,000 vaccinees, with detailed analyses of reactivity, immunogenicity, and immune response to pertussis toxin in subsets. METHODS: In a prospective, double-blind, multicenter trial in Germany, 22,505 healthy infants received three vaccinations of DTaP at age 3, 4, and 5 months. Serious adverse events were followed for 1 month after each vaccination, and neurologic events for 1 year or longer. Serum IgG antibodies were assayed before vaccination and 1 month after vaccination. RESULTS: After 67,000 dos…
Declining Incidence of Infantile Hypertrophic Stenosis (IHPS) in Germany 2000-2008
2011
Background: The incidencce of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) is highly variable over time and regionally different. There have been reports of declining incidence in Sweden, the US, Denmark and Scotland. In Sweden, the decline observed was parallel to the declining incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and was attributed to campaigns against prone sleeping position.
Postmortem Imaging in Sudden Adult Death
2019
Several definitions of “sudden and unexpected death” exist. The World Health Organization definition is of natural death within 24 h from the onset of symptoms, but this is much too long for many clinicians and pathologists; some will only accept death within 1 h from the onset of illness. If the event was not witnessed, sudden death is defined as the interval between the time the subject was last seen and the time the body was found within 6 h.
Dissipation-induced stationary entanglement in dipole-dipole interacting atomic samples
2004
The dynamics of two two-level dipole-dipole interacting atoms coupled to a common electro-magnetic bath and closely located inside a lossy cavity, is reported. Initially injecting only one excitation in the two-atom cavity system, loss mechanisms asymptotically drive the matter sample toward a stationary maximally entangled state. The role played by the closeness of the two atoms, with respect to such a cooperative behavior, is carefully discussed. Stationary radiation trapping effects are found and transparently interpreted.
Experimental recovery of quantum correlations in absence of system-environment back-action
2013
Revivals of quantum correlations in composite open quantum systems are a useful dynamical feature against detrimental effects of the environment. Their occurrence is attributed to flows of quantum information back and forth from systems to quantum environments. However, revivals also show up in models where the environment is classical, thus unable to store quantum correlations, and forbids system-environment back-action. This phenomenon opens basic issues about its interpretation involving the role of classical environments, memory effects, collective effects and system-environment correlations. Moreover, an experimental realization of back-action-free quantum revivals has applicative rele…
Light-neutrino mass spectrum, nuclear matrix elements, and the observability of neutrinoless ββ decay
2003
Parameters which describe neutrino flavor oscillations and neutrino mixing mechanisms, obtained from the analysis of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO), Super-Kamiokande (SK), CHOOZ, KamLAND and WMAP data, are used to calculate upper limits of the effective neutrino mass 〈mν〉 relevant for the neutrinoless double-beta decay (0νββ). The observability of planned 0νββ experiments, and the present status of the decay of 76Ge are discussed within different light-neutrino mass spectra and by presenting a systematics on the available nuclear matrix elements.
Constraining neutrino oscillation parameters with current solar and atmospheric data
2002
We analyze the impact of recent solar, atmospheric and reactor data in the determination of the neutrino oscillation parameters, taking into account that both the solar nu_e and the atmospheric nu_mu may convert to a mixture of active and sterile neutrinos. We use the most recent global solar neutrino data, including the 1496-day Super-K neutrino data sample, and we investigate in detail the impact of the SNO neutral current, spectral and day/night data by performing also an analysis using only the charged current rate from SNO. The implications of the first 145.1 days of KamLAND data on the determination of the solar neutrino parameters are also discussed in detail. We confirm the clear pr…
Status of three-neutrino oscillations after the SNO-salt data
2003
We perform a global analysis of neutrino oscillation data in the framework of three neutrinos, including the recent improved measurement of the neutral current events at SNO. In addition to all current solar neutrino data we take into account the reactor neutrino data from KamLAND and CHOOZ, the atmospheric neutrino data from Super-Kamiokande and MACRO, as well as the first spectral data from the K2K long baseline accelerator experiment. The up-to-date best fit values and allowed ranges of the three-flavour oscillation parameters are determined from these data. Furthermore, we discuss in detail the status of the small parameters alpha = Delta_m^2_Sol / Delta_m^2_Atm and sin^2(theta_13), whi…
