Anti-fat bias has been previously identified amongst practising obesity health care specialists, physical education (PE) teachers and students of exercise science and PE in samples in the USA and New Zealand. The present research investigated the perceptions of the physical self of ‘fat’ versus ‘normal-weight’ children held by 167 students studying sport exercise and PE related programmes in higher education in England. Darbā pētītas arsēnu un dzīvsudrabu saturošu gaismas avotu spektroskopiskās īpašības ultravioletajā reģionā. Tika apskatītas augstfrekvences bezelektrodu un dobjā katoda lampas, kas tiek izmantotas atomu absorbcijas spektroskopijā. Darbā tika mērītas šo lampu starojuma intensitātes relatīvajās un absolūtajās vienībās atkarībā no ģeneratora jaudas. Tika uzņemta spektrāllīniju intensitāšu stabilitāte laikā. No datu analīzes tika secināts, ka, palielinot jaudu, līniju intensitātes palielinās ek- sponenciāli. Coronary artery anomalies are a heterogeneous group of congenital disorders affecting the coronary pattern with a characteristic (origin, number, number of hosts, course, etc.). They are rarely found in the population. We report the case of a 21-year-old male who died from sudden cardiac death caused by an isolated coronary ostial obstruction, secondary to a rare anomaly, the presence of a valve-like ridge consisting of a small fold in the Valsalva aortic sinus. The goal is to single out the semantic contribution of the linguistic items which surface in Chinese locative constructions. Piesārņojuma ar dzīvsudrabu novērtējums melnajos stārķos (Ciconia nigra) Latvijā

Melnais stārķis (Ciconia nigra) ir Latvijā kritiski apdraudēta suga ar augstu izmiršanas risku, kuras populācijas lielums pēdējos gados ir strauji samazinājies. Pēc publicētiem datiem melno stārķu skaits samazinājies no 750–900 pāriem 1996. gadā līdz 85–140 pāriem 2017 gadā. Latvijā iepriekš veiktos pētījumos ir konstatēts, ka melno stārķu jauno putnu organismā ir paaugstināts dzīvsudraba piesārņojums, kura izcelsme nav zināma. Putnu mātītes piesārņojumu organismā deponē izdētajās olās. Tāpat melnie stārķi to izvada arī ar mēsliem, kurus ievācot attiecīgajos sezonas periodos, ir iespējams iegūt informāciju par piesārņojumu arī jauno putnu organismos. Possible association of sudden infant death with partial complement C4 deficiency revealed by post-mortem DNA typing of HLA class II and III genes

Based on evidence of an increased rate of respiratory infections in sudden infant death (SID) infants as well as the observation of familial occurrence, we analysed in a retrospective study class II and class II genes of the major histocompatibility complex in 40 cases of SID by Southern blot analysis of DNA obtained post mortem from tissue samples. In 24 cases, the parents were interviewed and confirmatory human lymphocyte antigen (HLA) and DNA typing was carried out. Using HLA-DR beta and -DQ beta probes, no evidence of an abnormal HLA-DR frequency distribution in SID infants was detected (P = 0.97). Dzīvsudrabs ir viens no toksiskākajiem piesārņojuma veidiem ūdens ekosistēmās un tam ir tendence biomagnificēties. Visvairāk piesārņojuma biomagnifikācijai pakļautas sugas, kas atrodas barības ķēdes augšgalā. Baltijas jūrā šāda suga ir pelēkais ronis, taču pētījumu par dzīvsudraba piesārņojumu Baltijas jūras pelēko roņu populācijā ir ļoti maz. Pētījumā tika analizēts dzīvsudraba daudzums juvenilu pelēkā roņa īpatņu audos, izmantojot “Hydra IIC Mercury Analyzer”.
