Statistical models attempting to predict who will disaffiliate from religions have typically accounted for less than 15% of the variation in religious affiliations, suggesting that we have only a partial understanding of this vital social process. Using agent-based simulations in three “artificial societies” (one predominantly religious; one predominantly secular; and one in between), we demonstrate that worldview pluralism within one’s neighborhood and family social networks can be a significant predictor of religious (dis)affiliation but in pluralistic societies worldview diversity is less important and, instead, people move toward worldview neutrality. Shared online spreadsheets and hidden profiles: Technological effects on dyad decision strategy

We report a study in which dyads use Instant Messaging to agree a preference among a set of three apartments. The information given to participants is partially overlapping, and contains a ''hidden profile'' (HP), such that a single apartment emerges as the best according to an unweighted sum of feature values only if dyad members pool information that is presented to only one of them. Nonlinear Dynamics Techniques for the Detection of the Brain Areas Using MER Signals

A methodology for identifying brain areas from the brain MER signals (microelectrode recordings) is presented, which is based on a nonlinear feature set. We propose nonlinear dynamics measures such as correlation dimension, Hurst exponent and the largest Lyapunov exponent to characterize the dynamic structure. The MER records belong to the Polytechnical University of Valencia, 24 records for each zone (black substance, thalamus, subthalamus nucleus and uncertain area). A preliminary study to assess the impact of maternal age on stress-related variables in healthy nulliparous women

Purpose: Childbearing age has progressively increased in industrialized countries. The impact of this delay on motherhood, however, requires further research. Methods: The study sample included a prospective cohort of healthy nulliparous pregnant women aged between 18 and 40 years (n = 148) assessed at 38 weeks gestation (Time#1, T1), 48 h after birth (Time#2, T2), and 3 months after birth (Time#3, T3). The effect of age on psychological, biological, and social variables was evaluated.
