This article focuses on the phantasmagorical vision that can be observed in Leonora Carrington’s memoir Down Below, a work which mingles autobiography with some elements of fiction to tell about the author’s experience of mental disorder during World War II. The work is disseminated with hermetic messages animated by animal transfigurations of human beings and symbolic descriptions of space which are analysed here with the aim to restore literary value to the conscious phantasmagorical representation of this life experience. A partir de la técnica del collage, recupera grabados del siglo XIX y brinda un explícito homenaje a sus grandes ilustradores. La obra, escrita en los años finales del régimen franquista, requiere ser analizada en el contexto político de su producción, pero también en el sistema literario y artístico de los años 70. Resum: Aquest article analitza la poesia que Josep Maria de Sagarra va escriure durant els anys vint i trenta —exclosos El comte Arnau, Poema de Nadal i la poesia satírica— per descobrir-hi les raons de fons que hi propicien el joc irònic. This article analyses the impact of classical tradition on the artistic production of Gregorio Prieto (1897-1992), painter par excellence of the Generation of 1927. It will be discovered how this influence, far from becoming a conservative reference, would constitute an incentive for his entailment with the avant-garde, especially with surrealism. Although the classic trace is found with more intensity in the creations produced during his Roman years, between 1928 and 1929, when he also made important trips to Sicily and Greece, Greece and Rome would nevertheless continue to be constitutive of his aesthetic experience throughout his later and extensive career.
