Italian gay fathers for surrogacy and research visibility
2022
Homoparenting is now a widespread reality that requires continuous investigations and in-depth studies. It is also an area of psychosocial interest in Italy, where, howev er, the analysis of homosexual parental and coparenting constructs tends to be very difficult. This, although gay families with children make an essential contribution to the pluralization of family-related meanings
Music May Reduce Loneliness and Act as Social Surrogate for a Friend: Evidence from an Experimental Listening Study
2020
After losing a close other, individuals usually confide in an empathic friend to receive comfort and they seem to have a heightened desire for mood-congruent, consoling music. Hence, it has been proposed that affect-congruent music acts as a social surrogate for an empathic friend. Thus, we hypothesized that listening to comforting music, as a response to a social loss experience, provides a sense of empathic company as indicated by reduced loneliness and heightened empathy. We further predicted that distracting music would have a stronger impact on the listeners’ mood in comparison to comforting pieces. To test these assumptions, an experiment with two factors was designed: (1) Sadness wa…
Surrogacy relationships: a critical interpretative review
2020
Abstract Based on a critical interpretative review of existing qualitative research investigating accounts of ‘lived experience’ of surrogates and intended parents from a relational perspective, this article proposes a typology of surrogacy arrangements. The number of interviews in each study range from as few as seven to over one hundred. Countries covered include Australia, Canada, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Sweden, UK, Ukraine, and the USA. Most studies focus only on surrog…
THE TRUMAN SHOW OF SAME-SEX FAMILY. RIGHT TO FILIATION V. BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD
2019
This study offers a brief excursus on the adoption in Italy, focusing on the legislative choice (as ruled by the “Civil Partnership Act”)1 not to grant the stepchild adoption (SCA) to the partners of the registered partnerships, called unioni civili. When the Act was discussed by the Parliament, there was an hard debate on filiation in same-sex couple: the right to be a couple for same-sex partners has been less problematic than providing for a specific right to parenthood. On such issue was not reached a majority’s consent, so, in order to save the goal of unioni civili, the provisions on filiation and adoption for same sex couples had been set aside. In the absence of scientific studies a…
