Mobilas lietojumprogrammas "Easy Connect" izstrāde
2017
Irradiation effects in CaF2probed by Raman scattering
2016
The formation conditions and dynamics of Ca colloids and point defects that appear in irradiated single crystals of CaF2 were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The intensity changes in the Raman spectra because of the presence of different concentrations of point defects and Ca colloids that emerged in CaF2 after irradiation with 2.2 GeV Au ions were used to study their distribution and stability under illumination with three laser wavelengths (473, 532 and 633 nm) at different output powers (2 to 200 mW). A damage saturation at a fluence of 6 × 1011 ion cm−2 was observed. The dependence of the spectral changes on the ion fluence can be described by a core/halo damage cross-section model.…

Outflows and spectral evolution in the eclipsing AMXP SWIFT J1749.4–2807 with NICER, XMM-Newton, and NuSTAR
2022
The neutron star low-mass X-ray binary SWIFT J1749.4–2807 is the only known eclipsing accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar. In this manuscript, we perform a spectral characterization of the system throughout its 2021, 2-week-long outburst, analysing 11 NICER observations and quasi-simultaneous XMM-Newton and NuSTAR single observations at the outburst peak. The broad-band spectrum is well-modelled with a blackbody component with a temperature of ∼0.6 keV, most likely consistent with a hotspot on the neutron star surface, and a Comptonization spectrum with power-law index Γ ∼ 1.9, arising from a hot corona at ∼12 keV. No direct emission from the disc was found, possibly due to it being too cool…
The 54 days orbital period of AX J1820.5-1434 unveiled by Swift
2013
The hard X-ray survey that Swift-BAT has been performing since late 2004 has provided a considerable database for a large number of sources whose hard X-ray emission was poorly known. We are exploiting the BAT survey archive to improve the temporal and spectral characterization of the Galactic hard-X-ray sources. In this letter we focus on the study of the high mass X-ray binary AX J1820.5-1434. All the data relevant to AX J1820.5-1434 have been extracted from the BAT survey archive and analyzed using a folding technique to search for periodical modulations. A broad-band spectral analysis was also performed complementing the BAT spectrum with the available Swift-XRT and XMM-Newton pointed o…
Finding a 61.0-day orbital period for the HMXB 4U 1036-56 with the Swift-BAT monitoring
2013
Since November 2004, the Burst Alert Telescope on board Swift is producing a monitoring of the entire sky in the 15-150 keV band, recording the timing and spectral behavior of the detected sources. Here we study the properties of the HMXB 4U 1036-56 using both the BAT survey data and those from a Swift-XRT observation. A folding analysis performed on the BAT light curve of the first 100 months of survey unveils a periodic modulation with a period of 61.0 days, tied to the presence in the BAT light curve of several intensity enhancements lasting ~1/4 of P_0. We explain this modulation as the orbital period of the binary system. The position of 4U 1036-56 on the Corbet diagram, the derived se…
Improving the Design of Ion Track-Based Biosensors
2018
In the last decade we had developed new types of biosensors, by cladding the inner walls of transparent etched swift heavy ion tracks in thin polymer foils with enzymes. The enzymatic reaction products of appropriate analytes penetrating into narrow tracks are enriched in the track’s confinement, and they change the electrical track properties if their charge states differ from those of the analytes. It was yet unknown how to design these sensors so that their best efficiency and highest possible sensitivity is achieved. This requires the accurate knowledge of the optimum track radius and the degree of product enrichment within the tracks. These questions were answered by appropriate experi…
In situ and postradiation analysis of mechanical stress in Al2O3:Cr induced by swift heavy-ion irradiation
2010
Abstract Optical spectroscopy and TEM techniques have been applied to study the radiation damage and correlated mechanical stresses in Al2O3 and Al2O3:Cr single crystals induced by (1–3) MeV/amu Kr, Xe and Bi ion irradiation. Mechanical stresses were evaluated in situ using a piezospectroscopic effect through the shift of the respective lines in ionoluminescence spectra. It was found that dose dependence of the stress level for Xe and Bi ions, when ionization energy loss exceeds the threshold of damage formation via electronic excitations, exhibits several alternate stages showing the build-up and relaxation of stresses. The beginning of relaxation stages is observed at fluences associated …
OpenStack Swift uzstādīšana un lietošana
2018
