2020

Realizm socjalistyczny, zwany prościej socrealizmem, to doktryna ideologiczno- estetyczna wspomagająca propagandę krajów komunistycznych. Jej korzenie sięgają Związku Radzieckiego, gdzie stanowiła jedyną słuszną metodę tworzenia sztuki od lat 30. XX wieku aż po kres mocarstwa, czyli rok 1991. Proces wprowadzania jedynej słusznej metody twórczej rozpoczęto w Polsce w 1949 roku. Władza organizowała zjazdy literatów, plastyków, architektów, filmowców, a także muzyków. Doktryna obowiązywała aż do 1956 roku (roku śmierci prezydenta Polski Ludowej Bolesława Bieruta), choć naciski zmalały wraz ze śmiercią Stalina w roku 1953. Władza komunistyczna dysponowała wieloma narzędziami mającymi skłonić ko…

Optimal Volume for Concert Halls Based on Ando’s Subjective Preference and Barron Revised Theories

2014

[EN] The Ando-Beranek s model, a linear version of Ando s subjective preference theory, obtained by the authors in a recent work, was combined with Barron revised theory. An optimal volume region for each reverberation time was obtained for classical music in symphony orchestra concert halls. The obtained relation was tested with good agreement with the top rated halls reported by Beranek and other halls with reported anomalies.

2012

“You won the barbarian”. D’annunzio contra Wagner. Symphonic from German to music of silence in the novels of Gabriele D’Annunzio Summary   This study aims to demonstrate how music has a relevance in the prose of Gabriele D’Annunzio. It is not just an aesthetic embellishment, sound sweetening syntax, melodic accompaniment to the events described. It suggests, rather, as a real source of inspiration, texture composition that motivates and supports events and characters. By analyzing the novels most markedly musical, symbol of opposing cultural trends and conceptual changes of direction, is possible to see as a controversial figure of Wagner, whose music inspires and influences the novel Il t…

2021

Eclecticism is a complex creative trend born as a consequence of both postmodernism and the heterodox treatment of cultural identity borders. This aesthetic path emerges as a compositional model of great communicative power in contemporary creation in the last two decades. Our essay addresses the Symphony V "American" (2003) by Leonardo Balada (1933) as a compositional paradigm. Through this article we demonstrate the importance of including popular sounds and re-signifying materials in the creative conception. A valid model of communication ahead of the challenges of globalization and mass media processes is therefore established hereby.

The Human-Animal Relationship and the Musical Metaphor in The Great Animal Orchestra by Bernie Krause

2018

Taking as case study the discourse of The Great Animal Orchestra, the following paper presents the sociosemiotic analysis carried out on the work by Bernie Krause, focusing especially on the analysis of the CD The Great Animal Orchestra Symphony, of the exposition Le Grand Orchestre des Animaux and of the related Internet sites, which followed his first wider public presentation The Great Animal Orchestra: Finding the Origins of Music in the World’s Wild Places. Through the musical metaphor, Krause’s discourse calls again into question the human-animal relationship, reversing the common meanings – this discovered animal culture stands opposite to contemporary human barbarity – and approachi…
