Synchronization of the distributed readout frontend electronics of the Baby MIND detector

Baby MIND is a new downstream muon range detector for the WGASCI experiment. This article discusses the distributed readout system and its timing requirements. The paper presents the design of the synchronization subsystem and the results of its test.

On the Advantages of Asynchronous Pixel Reading and Processing for High-Speed Motion Estimation

Biological visual systems are becoming an interesting source for the improvement of artificial visual systems. A biologically inspired read-out and pixel processing strategy is presented. This read-out mechanism is based on Selective pixel Change-Driven (SCD) processing. Pixels are individually processed and read-out instead of the classical approach where the read-out and processing is based on complete frames. Changing pixels are read-out and processed at short time intervals. The simulated experiments show that the response delay using this strategy is several orders of magnitude lower than current cameras while still keeping the same, or even tighter, bandwidth requirements.

Valence bands of poly(methylmethacrylate) and photoion emission in vacuum ultraviolet region

Photoion and photoelectron yields were measured for poly(methylmethacrylate) in the photon energy region of 8–40 eV using synchrotron radiation. Further, the valence‐band structure was investigated with ultraviolet photoelectron spectra and valence effective Hamiltonian calculations. A significant difference was observed between the photon energy dependencies of photoion and photoelectron yields. The threshold energy for photoion emission was found to be 10.5 eV, while that for photoelectron emission was 8.5 eV, indicating holes created near the valence‐band top do not contribute to the ion emission. Analysis of the road traffic-induced pollution in two areas of Sibiu, Romania

The current paper details a computer-aided research of the emission levels in two areas of the city of Sibiu, Romania. The research started from the numbers of motor vehicles passing through key segments of those two areas, located at entry points into the city of Sibiu. Using the software package Synchro Studio 7 and SimTraffic 7, the targeted crossroad areas were modelled and key indicators for the road traffic efficiency and for the emission levels were determined. These emission levels were then compared to real measured pollution values, which allowed both to assess the accuracy of the modelling and the influence of other pollution sources on the emission levels in those areas.

Diagonal space time hadamard codes with erasure decoding algorithm

A major challenge in the area of space time (ST) codes is to find codes suitable for efficient decoding, thus overcoming the problem of many existing ST code designs which require maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding. A solution could be to apply single-input single-output (SISO) channel codes and theory over temporal channel fading to the multi-input single-output (MISO) code construction and classical suboptimum decoding methods. Intermittent and passivity based control strategies for a hyperchaotic system

In this paper a four-dimensional hyperchaotic system with only one equilibrium is consid- ered and it is shown how the control and the synchronization of this system can be realized via two different control techniques. Firstly, we propose a periodically intermittent con- troller to stabilize the system states to the equilibrium and to achieve the projective syn- chronization of the system both in its periodic and hyperchaotic regime. Design of Low-Cost Noise Measurement Sensor Network: Sensor Function Design

In this paper, we report the sensor function design and implementation of a wireless sensor network application for measuring environmental acoustic noise. The system is built on ATmega128 and CC2420 platform. The protocol stack is based on CiNet stack with a global synchronization scheme and supports multi-hop communications. Strict filtering function specified by ITU-R 468 (namely A-weighting) is followed. Self-assembly mechanism of nanoparticles of Ni-based Prussian Blue analogues at the air/liquid interface: a synchrotron X-ray reflectivity study.

Prussian Blue analogue (PBA) nanoparticles can be self-assembled at air/liquid interfaces to build novel materials with interesting magnetic features. Herein, we study the influence of the size of PBA Cs0.4 Ni[Cr(CN)6 ]0.9 and K0.25 Ni[Fe(CN)6 ]0.75 nanoparticles on the self-assembly behavior by synchrotron X-ray reflectivity. Both nanoparticles show similar Z-potential values. The phospholipid dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine and the amino surfactant dimethyldioctadecylammonium have been used as Langmuir monolayers to anchor the PBA nanoparticles and study the interplay of forces directing the self-assembly of the nanoparticles at the surfactant/liquid interface.
