Discordances entre mémoire et histoire. Un exemple : le congrès d'Amiens (1906)
2012
Memory and history are sometimes a strange couple. A striking illustration is given by the French Unionism in the twentieth century. Some events - 1906, 1920, 1936, 1947, 1968 ... - are engraved in the "memories" and they have founded a collective identity. However, taking the example of the CGT Congress of Amiens in 1906, several dimensions - a priori essential - of this "memory" can be discussed: the importance of the strike, the relationship between parties and unions, the historical weakness of the French unionism. Historical data are not consistent with these representations usually carried about French unionism before 1914. One can wonder : would not it be the same discordance about t…

Sociologie des syndicats français
2000
Anagraphical relationships and crime specialization within Cosa Nostra
2021
Abstract The aim of the present work is to investigate the relationships established within Cosa Nostra, by making use of networks and complex-systems methods. The analysis is performed at three different levels, that is, individuals, groups within mafia syndicates, and relationships amongst mafia syndicates. The reported empirical analysis is based on the criminal records of 632 affiliates to Cosa Nostra selected from a set of 125 judgements emitted by the Palermo courts from 2000 to 2014. According to the criminal records of the Palermo Prosecutor Office, such a dataset includes approximately 10% of the whole population of Cosa Nostra affiliates in western Sicily. Furthermore, the vital s…

Why Do European Venture Capital Companies Syndicate?
2002
Financial theory, resource-based theory and access to deal flow are used to explain syndication practices among European venture capital (VC) firms. The desire to share risk and increase portfolio diversification is a more important motive for syndication than the desire to access additional intangible resources or deal flow. Access to resources is, however, more important for non-lead than for lead investors. When resource-based motives are more important, the propensity to syndicate increases. Syndication intensity is higher for young VC firms and for VC firms, specialised in a specific investment stage. Finally, syndication strategies are similar across European countries, but differ fro…
Web 2.0 under the light of free software
2009
The development of Web 2.0 has favoured a closer relation between Internet users and the different web applications that facilitate creating, sharing and structuring digital information in a horizontal and collaborative way through so-called social software. Social software includes tools that are familiar to us all, such as chats, forums, blogs, wikis, syndication standards (RSS type), social tagging, multimedia file sharing, social networking, etc. They are tools oriented to give the user a greater capacity of interaction, and a stronger control over the content and the format in which they can be presented.
