Translation of HTT mRNA with expanded CAG repeats is regulated by the MID1-PP2A protein complex.

Expansion of CAG repeats is a common feature of various neurodegenerative disorders, including Huntington's disease. Here we show that expanded CAG repeats bind to a translation regulatory protein complex containing MID1, protein phosphatase 2A and 40S ribosomal S6 kinase. Binding of the MID1-protein phosphatase 2A protein complex increases with CAG repeat size and stimulates translation of the CAG repeat expansion containing messenger RNA in a MID1-, protein phosphatase 2A- and mammalian target of rapamycin-dependent manner. Difficulties in reproducing the performances of nanoparticles dispersions are obstructive for the progress of the nanotechnology. A plausible reason for this variability is the lack of the control of the stability as well as the dimensions of the nanoparticles in the dispersions. In this work we report results of investigations on the stability of zirconia nanoparticles in aqueous medium, monitoring nanoparticles sizes by means of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). The properties of amides are defined by amidic resonance (nN→π*C=O conjugation), which enforces planarity of the six atoms comprising the amide bond. 20 displaced intraarticular fractures of the calcaneus were treated by open reduction and internal fixation. Results were evaluated according to a standardized protocol. With an average follow-up of 5 (2-8) years, results were excellent or good in 15 cases and fair or poor in 5 cases. An accurate radiographic study and CT scanning are essential for understanding these fractures. We feel that restoring calcaneal shape as anatomic as possible, getting an appropriate reduction of the posterior joint surface by a surgical procedure with early mobilization, and delayed weight bearing would be a good option in treatment of these fractures.

Displaced distal tibia fractures require stable fixation while minimizing secondary damage to the soft tissues by the surgical approach and implants. Antegrade intramedullary nailing has become an alternative to plate osteosynthesis for the treatment of distal metaphyseal fractures over the past two decades. While retrograde intramedullary nailing is a standard procedure in other long bone fractures, only few attempts have been made on retrograde nailing of tibial fractures. In factures of the distal tibia with simple articular extension, the optimal surgical treatment remains debatable.
