MORB-type neon in an enriched mantle beneath Etna, Sicily

Abstract Noble gas elemental and isotopic compositions were determined for five CO 2 –CH 4 samples collected around Etna, Sicily, to investigate the geochemical features of the mantle beneath the volcano. The samples contain mantle-derived noble gases. The measured helium isotopic ratios ( 3 He/ 4 He) vary between 5.9 and 6.4 times atmospheric ratio ( R a =1.4×10 −6 ), which are comparable to the ratios of olivines (6.1–8.2 R a ) in the lavas of the same volcano [1]. Neon in the samples is enriched in both 20 Ne and 21 Ne ( 20 Ne/ 22 Ne 9.95–10.7, 21 Ne/ 22 Ne 0.030–0.037), indicating derivation from the mantle. Abstract The Eggvin Bank (Central Norwegian-Greenland Sea, latitude ∼71°N) is a topographically anomalous shallow area with scattered volcanic peaks extending between the island of Jan Mayen and East Greenland and straddling the northern segment of the mid-Atlantic Kolbeinsey Ridge axis. Basalts dredged from the Eggvin Bank range from variably depleted, tholeiitic, near-axis lavas to enriched, transitional-to-alkaline, off-axis seamount lavas. Experimental calibration and implications of olivine-melt vanadium oxybarometry for hydrous basaltic arc magmas

The strong dependence of vanadium partitioning between olivine and silicate melt (DVOl-M) on redox conditions (fO2) can be used as sensitive oxybarometer in magmatic systems. Here we extend the experimental database on DVOl-M, obtained so far at high temperatures (mainly above 1250 °C), to lower temperatures that are typical for island-arc basalts. Crystallization experiments were performed using a composition from Mutnovsky volcano (Kamchatka), and the investigated temperature, pressure, and oxygen fugacity ranges were 1025–1150 °C, 0.1 and 0.3 GPa, and ΔQFM of –0.5 to +3.2, respectively. Quiescent and explosive magma degassing at Stromboli volcano sustains high-temperature crater gas venting and a permanent volcanic plume which constitute key sources of information on the magma supply and dynamics, the physical processes controlling the explosive activity and, more broadly, the volcano feeding system. W roku 1808 zostały sporządzone inwentarze, m.in. „Realności klasztoru bazyliańskiego werchrackiego”, dzięki którym można w przybliżeniu ocenić jego sytuację materialną. Dokumenty te są obecnie częścią zasobu Centralnego Państwowego Archiwum Historycznego Ukrainy we Lwowie. Klasztor należał wówczas do diecezji przemyskiej, dekanatu potylickiego i cyrkułu żółkiewskiego. Przyczyną podjęcia pracy nad inwentarzem była planowana konfiskata mienia werchrackich bazylianów. Okazało się jednak, że z powodu zaniedbania kasata została odsunięta w czasie, a dostępne dzisiaj regestry nie były pierwszą próbą dokonania spisu dóbr należących do bazylianów w tym trudnym okresie. Some effects of color incongruity in a visual Ad

32; While the effects of an ad's colour on attitudes towards it have already been investigated, far less work has been done on the influence of incongruous colours. This paper examines the effects of an ad using an incongruous colour on several variables of the advertising persuasion process. Analyses of variance have been conducted for an experimental study involving 407 respondents. The results show that a colour that is incongruous with the ad or with the product advertised affects the elements of surprise, perceived provocation, attitudes towards the ad and the positive beliefs about it.
