Abstract The paper aims to capture a form of naturalism that can be found “built-in” in phenomenology, namely the idea to take science or mathematics on its own, without postulating extraneous normative “molds” on it. The paper offers a detailed comparison of Penelope Maddy’s naturalism about mathematics and Husserl’s approach to mathematics in Formal and Transcendental Logic (1929). It argues that Maddy’s naturalized methodology is similar to the approach in the first part of the book. The European continent contains substantial areas of semi-natural habitats, mostly grasslands, which are among the most endangered habitats in Europe. Their continued existence depends on some form of human activity, for either production or conservation purposes, or both. We examined the share of semi-natural grasslands within the general grassland areas in boreal Europe. Bacterial antibiotic resistance is often a part of mobile genetic elements that move from one bacterium to another. By interfering with the horizontal movement and the maintenance of these elements, it is possible to remove the resistance from the population. Here, we show that a so-called plasmid-dependent bacteriophage causes the initially resistant bacterial population to become susceptible to antibiotics. However, this effect is efficiently countered when the system also contains a predator that feeds on bacteria. Tutkielmani tarkoituksena oli selvittää tapaustutkimuksena äidin kokemuksia lapsen huostaanoton jälkeen sekä sitä, minkälainen merkitys avohuollon tukitoimenpiteillä oli äidin selviytymisprosessissa. Tutkin myös sitä, millaiseksi äitiys muodostui lapsen huostaanoton jälkeen eli minkälaisena äiti koki oman äitiytensä sen jälkeen. Tutkimuksessani tuon esille auttamistyön näkökulmaa ja sen merkitystä lastensuojelun sosiaalityössä. Käytän tutkimuksessani fenemenologis-hermeneuttista tutkimusotetta. Tämän tutkielman tarkoitus on suomalaisten ministeriöiden suhtautumistapojen tulevaisuuteen tutkiminen. Suhtautumistapoja on pyritty hahmottamaan etsimällä painotuseroja mahdollisuuksien, haasteiden ja uhkien välillä ministeriöiden tulevaisuusnäkemyksissä. Tutkimuskohteeksi on rajattu väestön ikääntyminen tulevaisuuden haasteena. Tutkielman aineiston muodostavat ministeriöiden tulevaisuuskatsaukset vuosilta 2006 ja 2010. A burgeoning body of literature suggests that poor childhood health leads to adverse health outcomes. lower educational attainment and weaker labour market outcomes in adulthood. We focus on an important but under-researched topic, which is the role played by infection-related hospitalization (IRH) in childhood and its links to labour market outcomes later in life. The participants aged 24-30 years in 2001 N =1706 were drawn from the Young Finns Study, which includes comprehensive registry data on IRHs in childhood at ages 0-18 years.
