UCOT: Semiautomatic Generation of Conceptual Models from Use Case Descriptions
2008
This paper describes a prototype of a system to auto matically analyze use cases and create a conceptual model based on the analysis. Grammatical parser and Abbott’s heuristic are used to process the use cases. User can modify the conceptual model by refining entities and relations, as well as roles for the entities. The model can be exported to be further utilized with object oriented analysis or domain specific modeling. The system is evaluated based on the analysis of use cases used to describe the system itself. The quality of models depends essentially on the quality and writing conventions of the use cases. If the use cases are written using subject-predicate-object struc ture and usage…

David Cronenberg : une mission utopique
2002
This essay is meant as an introduction to the body of Cronenberg's work up to and including Spider. It is an attempt to analyze what Cronenberg calls his mission in aesthetic and ethical terms, Cronenberg having admitted to Serge Grünberg that he wanted to participate in changing contemporary norms by encouraging the spectator to see something beautiful when his initial reaction is repulsion. I argue that the utopian/dystopian aspect of the diegeses of Cronenberg's early films becomes a structuring element in his later films. I first examine Cronenberg's approach to the fantastique in Shivers and Rabid, with particular interest to the monster as a metaphor of the repulsive. In the later fil…
Fragmentation in International Law and Global Governance : A Conceptual Inquiry
2017
This article examines the concept and metaphor of fragmentation and its underlying assumptions in international law and global governance. After engaging with fragmentation historically, we analyze current debates through five conceptual perspectives. Fragmentation is often perceived as a process, a gradation, a process with a single direction, a prognosis, and normatively as either loss or liberation. These interlinked tendencies carry conceptual implications, such as making fragmentation apparently inevitable or provoking positive revaluations of fragmentation in terms of differentiation. Furthermore, the conceptual coupling of fragmentation with modernity enhances these effects with an h…

Meidän savolaisten puheenaiheet : maakuntalehti Savon Sanomien lööppien aihevalinnat ja uutiskriteerit 2007-2008
2011
1990-luku lopetti suomalaisten sanomalehtien vuosikymmeniä jatkuneen turvallisen ekspansion kauden.
Interaction between surface plasmon polaritons and molecules in strong coupling limit
2016
Miniaturization of optical elements and their integration to electronic circuits is limited by diffraction limit. It was realized that light being coupled to surface plasmons (SP) can overcome this limit. Employing also optically active molecules in combination with SPs can drive optical circuits to nm-scale and add functionalities. For efficient performance of plasmonic elements involving fluorescent dye molecules investigation of physics behind their interaction is of high priority. In this thesis interaction between surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and different dye molecules has been studied, especially within strong coupling limit, which brings in totally new physical properties in th…
