Previous physics education research has raised the question of “hidden variables” behind students’ success in learning certain concepts. In the context of the force concept, it has been suggested that students’ reasoning ability is one such variable. Aineisto koostuu vapaaehtoista lapsettomuutta ja sterilisaatiota käsittelevistä kirjoituksista. Kirjoituspyyntöön saivat vastata kaikki itsensä kohderyhmään kuuluvaksi määrittelevät henkilöt. Aineisto on kerätty alun perin pro gradu -tutkielmaan vuonna 2017. Kirjoituskutsun avulla pyrittiin selvittämään mm. sitä, miten päätös vapaaehtoisesta lapsettomuudesta on syntynyt ja millaisia ajatuksia sterilisaatio vastaajissa herättää. Tarkoitus oli saada tietoa myös siitä, miksi sterilisaatioon hakeudutaan ja millaisia vaikutuksia toimenpiteellä on ollut vapaaehtoisesti lapsettomien ihmisten elämään. Rethinking the Role of Volunteering in the Labor Market Inclusion of Migrants

In this article, we critically investigate the role that volunteering can have in the labor market inclusion of migrants. We consider how volunteering can both enhance and hinder inclusion through a comparison of two different contexts: Finland and the United Kingdom, where both welfare state and migration regimes are differently shaped. We also question whether volunteering to gain work experience can be defined as “volunteering” or whether it corresponds more with a definition of unpaid labor. Children’s low physical activity levels call for an investigation of what can promote activity for excessively sedentary children. The purpose of this longitudinal mixed-method case study in an early childhood education (ECE) environment was to observe one sedentary child’s free outdoor playtime in four seasons and determine the physical environmental factors changing his activity from sedentary to physically active. Systematic observation of video material and quantitative analysis were used to identify the most sedentary individual of the one ECE group. The child was named “John”. Oheinen kvalitatiivinen tapaustutkimus pienentää tätä puutetta aiemmassa tutkimuksessa tarjoamalla lisätietoa kongolaisten pakolaislasten interpersoonallisista vuorovaikutussuhteista ystävien kanssa Suomeen muuton jälkeisessä tilanteessa. Katsottaessa identiteettien muodostusta ja kulttuurien luomista ilmiöinä, näiden neuvottelujen nähdään tapahtuvan ihmisten välisessä vuorovaikutuksessa.
