Hermite interpolation: The barycentric approach
1991
The barycentric formulas for polynomial and rational Hermite interpolation are derived; an efficient algorithm for the computation of these interpolants is developed. Some new interpolation principles based on rational interpolation are discussed.
Reconstructions that combine interpolation with least squares fitting
2015
We develop a reconstruction that combines interpolation and least squares fitting for point values in the context of multiresolution a la Harten. We study the smoothness properties of the reconstruction as well as its approximation order. We analyze how different adaptive techniques (ENO, SR and WENO) can be used within this reconstruction. We present some numerical examples where we compare the results obtained with the classical interpolation and the interpolation combined with least-squares approximation. Synthesis and Oxidant Properties of Phase 1 Benzepine N-Oxides of Common Antipsychotic Drugs
2013
There is increasing evidence that cell constituents are oxidized by widely used antipsychotic drugs but until now the underlying chemistry has remained unclear. It is well known that such drugs readily undergo N-oxidation as a first key metabolic step. To gain insight into the problem, the tertiary phase 1 N-oxides of clozapine, olanzapine, quetiapine, and zotepine were synthesized, together with the N,S-dioxides of quetiapine and zotepine. These N-oxides were then subjected to well-established chemical transformations to test their oxidant properties in group VIII transition-metal-catalyzed reactions. In the osmium tetroxide catalyzed dihydroxylation of styrene or cinnamyl alcohol and in …
An anorogenic pulse in a typical orogenic setting: The geochemical and geochronological record in the East Serbian latest Cretaceous to Palaeocene al…
2013
Abstract This study focuses on the East Serbian latest Cretaceous to Palaeocene Mafic Alkaline Rocks (hereafter, ES-MAR). This alkaline magmatism developed along the Eurasian border after the closure of the Mesozoic Tethys in the Balkan sector. Olivine(± clinopyroxene)-phyric and olivine- and nepheline-normative basanite, tephrite and theralite rocks are studied using Ar/Ar ages and major elements, trace elements and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopes. The ES-MAR are geochemically similar to other alkaline rocks of the Circum-Mediterranean Anorogenic Cenozoic Igneous (CiMACI) province, showing elevated contents of high field strength elements (HFSE) (e.g., Nb = 50–100 ppm) and high HFSE/LILE (large ion lith…
Whole-brain radiotherapy or autologous stem-cell transplantation as consolidation strategies after high-dose methotrexate-based chemoimmunotherapy in…
2017
Background The International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group-32 (IELSG32) trial is an international randomised phase 2 study that addresses two key clinical questions in the treatment of patients with newly diagnosed primary CNS lymphoma. Results of the first randomisation have demonstrated that methotrexate, cytarabine, thiotepa, and rituximab (called the MATRix regimen) is the induction combination associated with significantly better outcome compared with the other induction combinations tested. Here, we report the results of the second randomisation that addresses the efficacy of myeloablative chemotherapy supported by autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT), as an alternative to wh…
Cooperative studies of chemoprophylaxis after transurethral resection of bladder tumors
1983
Large cooperative trials are more likely than series studied by small groups to bring about significant progress in the field of intravesical adjuvant chemotherapy of superficial bladder tumor. Multicenter randomized trials involving large numbers of patients have been conducted in Europe by the EORTC Urological Group. The Group's main objectives were to compare the efficacy of thio-TEPA, VM-26, epodyl, Adriamycin, and cisplatin, against no treatment, and to study the prophylactic effect of oral pyridoxine and evaluate the main prognostic factors. The results obtained so far are reported. Preliminary information is also given about the Blinst study, a multicenter open investigation of local…
Salvage treatment for children with relapsed/refractory germ cell tumors: The Associazione Italiana Ematologia Oncologia Pediatrica (AIEOP) experienc…
2020
Background Malignant germ cell tumors (GCTs) are a heterogeneous group of rare neoplasms in children. Optimal outcome is achieved with multimodal therapies for patients with both localized and advanced disease, especially after the introduction of platinum-based chemotherapy regimens. In this respect, data on salvage treatment for children with relapsed or platinum-refractory disease are still limited. Methods Retrospective analysis of data regarding patients affected by malignant GCTs with platinum-refractory or relapsed disease after first-line treatment according to AIEOP TCGM 2004 protocol was conducted. Results Twenty-one patients, 15 females and 6 males, were considered for the analys…

Secondary acute leukemia following mitoxantrone-based high-dose chemotherapy for primary breast cancer patients.
2003
The incidence of secondary myelodysplasia/acute myeloid leukemia (AML) was retrospectively assessed in an international joint study in 305 node-positive breast cancer patients, who received mitoxantrone-based high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) followed by autologous stem cell support as adjuvant therapy. The median age of the patients was 57 years (range 22-67). In all, 268 patients received peripheral blood stem cells, and 47 patients received autologous bone marrow. After a median follow-up of 57 months (range 10-125), three cases of secondary AML (sAML) were observed, resulting in a cumulative incidence of 0.94%. One case of sAML developed 18 months after HDCT (FAB M3) The karyotype was trans…
Elimination of Established Risk-Factors in Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma - Impact of High-Dose Chemotherapy Followed by Autologous Stem-Cel…
2011
Abstract Abstract 3089 Introduction: High-dose chemotherapy (HDT) and autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT) demonstrated high efficacy in the treatment of newly-diagnosed primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL) in eligible patients (pts). Prognosis of PCNSL is associated with several clinical and histopathological risk factors (RF). Early complete response (CR) during chemotherapy (CHT) was recently reported to be an additional independent prognostic factor in pts undergoing polychemotherapy without HDT+ASCT. In this analysis, we examined the extent to which known RF determined survival in pts who were treated with HDT-ASCT. We additionally investigated the impact of HDT-ASCT specific factors (e…
