Background To evaluate the effect of undersized drilling on the primary and secondary stability of immediate implants placed in the anterior maxilla. Material and Methods A comparative randomized clinical trial was carried out in 30 healthy adults. Thirty tapered implants, 16 involving conventional drilling and 14 undersized drilling, were placed immediately after anterior maxillary tooth removal. Insertion torque and implant stability assessed by resonance frequency analysis (RFA) were evaluated at three different timepoints: at implant placement and 6 and 12 weeks post-implantation. L’ipocalcemia post-operatoria è la più frequente tra le complicanze della chirurgia tiroidea. Si manifesta in un’elevata percentuale di pazienti nel periodo post-operatorio immediato come ipoparatiroidismo transito-rio, e rimane in modo permanente soltanto nei pazienti che hanno subito una paratiroidectomia accidentale durante la tiroidectomia conformando un quadro di vero ipoparatiroidismo. Objectives: The aim of this study is to describe and compare the evolution of recurrent bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (BRONJ) in patients treated with plasma rich in growth factors or teriparatide. Material and Methods: Two different types of treatments were applied in patients diagnosed of recurrent BRONJ in a referral hospital for 1.100.000 inhabitants. Resumen: La osteoporosis (OP) y la enfermedad renal crónica (ERC) influyen independientemente en la salud ósea. Numerosos pacientes con ERC presentan una disminución de densidad mineral ósea (DMO), un elevado riesgo de fracturas por fragilidad ósea y un incremento de su morbimortalidad. Con el envejecimiento de la población estos hechos no son dependientes solo de la «osteodistrofia renal» sino también de la OP asociada.
