Shotgun metagenomics applied to archaeological feces (paleofeces) can bring new insights into the composition and functions of human and animal gut microbiota from the past. However, paleofeces often undergo physical distortions in archaeological sediments, making their source species difficult to identify on the basis of fecal morphology or microscopic features alone. Here we present a reproducible and scalable pipeline using both host and microbial DNA to infer the host source of fecal material. Objetivos: Evaluar los resultados de una nueva modificación de la esclerectomía profunda no perforante (EPNP) denominada espolonectomía. Métodos: Estudio retrospectivo no aleatorizado y comparativo que incluyó 98 ojos (grupo A) operados con espolonectomía, que consiste en la combinación de la escisión del espolón escleral con EPNP. El grupo control (B) incluyó 53 ojos operados con EPNP clásica. Durante 12 meses se estudiaron la presión intraocular (PIO), los medicamentos antiglaucomatosos que requirieron y las complicaciones. Scenario modeling for the management of international bond portfolios

We address the problem of portfolio management in the international bond markets. Interest rate risk in the local market, exchange rate volatility across markets, and decisions for hedging currency risk are integral parts of this problem. The paper develops a stochastic programming optimization model for integrating these decisions in a common framework. Monte Carlo simulation procedures, calibrated using historical observations of volatility and correlation data, generate jointly scenarios of interest and exchange rates. School-related stress among sixth-grade students : Associations with academic buoyancy and temperament

The present study examined to what extent sixth-grade students' academic buoyancy and temperament contributed to their school-related stress. A total of 845 students rated their school-related stress at the beginning and end of the school year and their academic buoyancy at the beginning of the year. Parents rated students' effortful control and negative affectivity. The results showed that high academic buoyancy, high effortful control, and low negative affectivity at the beginning of the school year were related to lower school-related stress at the end of the school year, after controlling for gender, GPA, and previous level of stress.
