Gradientu pastiprināšanas algoritmu salīdzinājums un mainīgo būtiskuma analīze
2020
Cation binding resorcinarene bis-crowns: the effect of lower rim alkyl chain length on crystal packing and solid lipid nanoparticles
2012
A group of seven resorcinarene bis-crown ethers (CNBC5) with two polyether bridges at the upper rim and either propyl, butyl, pentyl, heptyl, nonyl, decyl or undecyl groups at the lower rim were synthesized and their binding properties with Cs+ were investigated by NMR titration. The bis-crowns form 1:2 complexes with Cs+ with binding constants of logK 4–5. Crystal structures of bis-crowns and their Cs+ and K+ complexes were studied and different packing motifs were found depending on the alkyl chain length. Short ethyl, propyl and butyl alkyl chains gave a layer or pillar packing where the polar and non-polar regions cannot be distinguished, whereas longer pentyl and decyl chains formed bi…
The complex interplay between Notch signaling and Snail1 transcription factor in the regulation of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT)
2015
Background The epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a highly coordinated process observed during embryonic development and adult tissue repair. It is characterized by the loss of cell–cell adhesion and apicobasal polarity, and the transition to a cell type with a spindle-like phenotype able to migrate through the basal membranes. Methods This review article includes available date from peer-reviewed publications associated with the role of Notch signaling and Snail1 transcription factor in activation and regulation of EMT. Results Growing evidences in the past few years demonstrated a significant role of Notch in EMT activation. It is not surprising because this pathway is the nexus o…
The emergence of Vibrio pathogens in Europe : ecology, evolution, and pathogenesis (Paris, 11-12th March 2015)
2015
Global change has caused a worldwide increase in reports of Vibrio-associated diseases with ecosystem-wide impacts on humans and marine animals. In Europe, higher prevalence of human infections followed regional climatic trends with outbreaks occurring during episodes of unusually warm weather. Similar patterns were also observed in Vibrio-associated diseases affecting marine organisms such as fish, bivalves and corals. Basic knowledge is still lacking on the ecology and evolutionary biology of these bacteria as well as on their virulence mechanisms. Current limitations in experimental systems to study infection and the lack of diagnostic tools still prevent a better understanding of Vibrio…

Inmediato y after effects de transcraneal direct-current stimulation in mouse primary somatosensory cortex.
2021
Transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique consisting in the application of weak electric currents on the scalp. Although previous studies have demonstrated the clinical value of tDCS for modulating sensory, motor, and cognitive functions, there are still huge gaps in the knowledge of the underlying physiological mechanisms. To define the immediate impact as well as the after effects of tDCS on sensory processing, we first performed electrophysiological recordings in primary somatosensory cortex (S1) of alert mice during and after administration of S1-tDCS, and followed up with immunohistochemical analysis of the stimulated brain regions. Du…
Conversazioni umane e artificiali
2023

Toxicity of binary mixtures of Cu, Cr and As to the earthworm Eisenia andrei
2020
AbstractChromated copper arsenate (CCA) mixtures were used in the past for wood preservation, leading to large scale soil contamination. This study aimed at contributing to the risk assessment of CCA-contaminated soils by assessing the toxicity of binary mixtures of copper, chromium and arsenic to the earthworm Eisenia andrei in OECD artificial soil. Mixture effects were related to reference models of Concentration Addition (CA) and Independent Action (IA) using the MIXTOX model, with effects being related to total and available (H2O and 0.01 M CaCl2 extractable) concentrations in the soil. Since only in mixtures with arsenic dose-related mortality occurred (LC50 92.5 mg/kg dry soil), it wa…
