Latīņu teiciens "Verba volant, scripta manent" vēsta, ka teiktais izgaist, bet rakstītais paliek. Ar izstādi LU Bibliotēka sveic LU Juridisko fakultāti simtgadē. Juridiskās fakultātes saknes ir saistītas ar Latvijas Augstskolas, vēlāk – Latvijas Universitātes, dibināšanu, kad tika izveidota Ekonomiski juridiskā jeb Juridiski ekonomiskā fakultāte, kas sastāvēja no Tautsaimniecības nodaļas un Tiesību zinātņu nodaļas. Vēlāk tā ieguva Tautsaimniecības un tiesībzinātņu fakultātes nosaukumu. Izstādē akcentēti konkrētu mācībspēku ieguldījumu fakultātes veidošanā un nozares zinātniskās domas attīstībā.

Genome-Wide Association Analysis in Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

Background & Aims We aimed to characterize the genetic susceptibility to primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) by means of a genome-wide association analysis of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. Methods A total of 443,816 SNPs on the Affymetrix SNP Array 5.0 (Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA) were genotyped in 285 Norwegian PSC patients and 298 healthy controls. Associations detected in this discovery panel were re-examined in independent case-control panels from Scandinavia (137 PSC cases and 368 controls), Belgium/The Netherlands (229 PSC cases and 735 controls), and Germany (400 cases and 1832 controls). This paper focuses on the path dependency of landscapes in Latgale, Latvia from the present perspective at the regional and local scale. During the last centuries Latvia's landscapes have passed through radical changes, which were driven by political events. Each new political era discarded the ideas of the previous era and subsequently reorganized the land(scape) according to the new views. At the regional level the role of history is significant in analyzing landscapes while at the local level the main force is people, often themselves not knowing the history of the place but putting the existing path dependency into practise or disregarding it. By transplantation of parts of the neural plate (latter medulla oblongata) from Xenopus laevis (Daud.) to Hymenochirus boettgeri (Torn.) larval chimaeras were obtained, which showed donorlike rhythmical movements of the mouth and pharyngeal region, movements which the host species lacks. Nevertheless, some of these tadpoles were still able to catch small prey in a reaction which is typical for the host and lacking in the donor.
