Objective The aim of this study was to investigate physiotherapists’ validating and invalidating communication, before and after brief Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT) training that included a session on validation skills. Associations between validation/invalidation and the characteristics of the interviews and physiotherapists were also explored. Methods Eighteen physiotherapists treating patients with low back pain participated in the study. Health examination surveys aim to collect reliable information on the health and risk factors of a population of interest. Missing data occur when some invitees do not participate the survey. If non-participation is associated with the variables to be studied, then the estimates based only on the participants cannot be generalised to the population of interest. In this case, the estimates have selection bias, which misleads the decision-makers. Valkohäntäkauris (Odocoileus virginianus) on Yhdysvalloista Suomeen tuotu vieraslaji. Kauriiden ja autojen yhteentörmäykset ovat lisääntyneet kauriiden määrän kasvaessa. Kolareiden ja muiden kauriista aiheutuvien haittojen vähentämiseksi kannan kokoa säädellään metsästämällä. Vuosittaisten metsästyslupien määrä päätetään kannan koon arvioiden perusteella. Tässä työssä esitellään uusi tapa arvioida Suomen valkohäntäkauriiden kantaa. Vuosittain metsästettyjen valkohäntäkauriiden lukumäärät tunnetaan metsästäjien ilmoitusten perusteella. Lasten akuutin lymfoblastileukemian ylläpitovaiheen hoidossa tehtävät lääkeannostuspäätökset pohjataan nykyisin potilaan veren valkosolupitoisuuteen, joka on hoidon tehokkuudesta kertova tekijä. Potilaalle sopiva lääkeannostus on hoidon onnistumisen ja turvallisuuden kannalta tärkeä, mutta sen löytäminen on vaikeaa, sillä annettu lääkitys näkyy valkosolupitoisuudessa viiveellä, ja potilaiden elimistön reagointi lääkitykseen on yksilöllistä. Sopivan lääkeannostuksen löytämistä hankaloittavat myös hoidonaikaiset tulehdukset, jotka voivat muuttaa valkosolupitoisuutta hetkellisesti.
