Studying Gamow-Teller transitions and the assignment of isomeric and ground states at $N=50$
2022
Direct mass measurements of neutron-deficient nuclides around the N=50 shell closure below $^{100}$Sn were performed at the FRS Ion Catcher (FRS-IC) at GSI, Germany. The nuclei were produced by projectile fragmentation of $^{124}$Xe, separated in the fragment separator FRS and delivered to the FRS-IC. The masses of 14 ground states and two isomers were measured with relative mass uncertainties down to 1×10−7 using the multiple-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer of the FRS-IC, including the first direct mass measurements of $^{98}$Cd and $^{97}$Rh. A new QEC=5437±67 keV was obtained for $^{98}$Cd, resulting in a summed Gamow-Teller (GT) strength for the five observed transitions (0+…

Schrödingerin yhtälön sidottujen tilojen numeerisesta ratkaisemisesta
2013
Esittelemme yksiulotteisen, ajasta riippumattoman, Schrödingerin yhtälön ja siihen liittyviä potentiaalikuoppia, eli reunaehtoja. Lisäksi esittelemme kolmeulotteisen, radiaalisen, Schrödingerin yhtälön ja tutkimme siihen liit- tyvän keskeissymmetrisen, vedynkaltaisen atomin potentiaalikuopan ener- gian ominaisarvoja. Käymme läpi tärkeimpiä yksiulotteisen differentiaa- liyhtälön ääriarvo-ongelman ratkaisemiseen soveltuvia numeerisia integroi- jia, joista johdamme yksinkertaisimmat ja lisäksi tutustumme muutamiin matriisimenetelmiin. Analysoimme eri menetelmien tarkkuutta ja yleistä soveltuvuutta Schrödingerin yhtälön energian ominaisarvojen etsimiseen silmämääräisesti ominaisfunktioyritteen …
Application of time-dependent many-body perturbation theory to excitation spectra of selected finite model systems
2016
In this thesis, an approximate method introduced to solve time-dependent many-body problems known as time-dependent many-body perturbation theory is studied. Many-body perturbation theory for interacting electrons and phonons is reviewed. In particular, the electron propagator G and an unconventional two-component phonon propagator, which satisfy coupled integral Dyson equations, are introduced. In practice, the associated integral kernels known as the electron Σ and phonon self-energies need to be approximated. The conserving approximations known as the Hartree (-Fock) and the first and second Born approximations, which respect the continuity equation between the electron density and curren…
On a nonlinear Schrödinger equation for nucleons in one space dimension
2021
We study a 1D nonlinear Schrödinger equation appearing in the description of a particle inside an atomic nucleus. For various nonlinearities, the ground states are discussed and given in explicit form. Their stability is studied numerically via the time evolution of perturbed ground states. In the time evolution of general localized initial data, they are shown to appear in the long time behaviour of certain cases.
Loneliness, subjective health complaints, and medicine use among Finnish adolescents 2006-2018.
2022
Aims: Loneliness is an important public health challenge for all ages. This study reports time trends of loneliness among adolescents over a 12-year period and analyses the strength of the associations between loneliness, health complaints, and medicine use. Methods: Data were derived from the cross-sectional Finnish Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study conducted in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. The study population is based on a random sample of schools with 20,444 participants aged 11–15 years. The trends were analysed with a Mantel–Haenszel test, and the strength of the associations was evaluated by mixed-effects logistic and linear regressions. Results: An increasing prevalence …
Real-Time Processes of Career Goal Construction : A Study Case Approach with Implications for the Development of Adolescents’ Identity
2022
The study aimed at investigating how different young people going through the post-high school transition set, monitor, pursue, and renegotiate career goals in real-time and in everyday life circumstances. A theoretically driven proposition supported the conceptualization of career goals as complex dynamic systems and guided the examination and description of the moment-to-moment processes shaping the (re)construction of career goals. The study adopted an exploratory research approach and was based on a longitudinal case study design. Diary reports were collected for 39 weeks. Participants were four young people (three females, one male) who at the onset of the study were 18 years of age an…

Käyttäytymisen ja tunteiden vahvuuksien arviointiväline (KTVA)
2018
Lokakuussa 2018 julkaistavan KTVA-kirja perustuu Suomessa vuosina 2007–2017 tehtyyn tutkimukseen. Lisäksi lapsi ta…
