Bosnia and Herzegovina is a young, post-conflict and ethnically divided country in Europe. It is well known for being the scene of a conflict centred on religious divisions. For the researcher, this raises a number of interesting questions. What is the role of religious institutions in conflict and peacebuilding? Why is religion politicised? Väitöskirjassa selvitetään 8.-luokkalaisten luonnontieteelliseen osaamiseen yhteydessä olevia taustatekijöitä kuudessa maassa: Suomessa, Englannissa, Unkarissa, Japanissa, Latviassa ja Venäjällä. Tämä monitasomallinnusta käyttävä tutkimus perustuu TIMSS 1999 -tutkimuksen aineistoon. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie dominacji historii w stosunkach polsko-niemieckich od przełomu lat 80. i 90. XX w. po czasy współczesne. Trzydzieści minionych lat podzielono na cztery podokresy i zaprezentowano dominujące w nich kwestie historyczne. Wybrane przykłady problemów z przeszłości i debaty, jakie toczyły i toczą się nadal na ich temat, świadczą dobitnie o ich ogromnym znaczeniu dla rozwoju relacji między Polakami a Niemcami.
