Superconducting size effect in thin films under electric field: Mean-field self-consistent model

We consider effects of an externally applied electrostatic field on superconductivity, self-consistently within a BCS mean field model, for a clean 3D metal thin film. The electrostatic change in superconducting condensation energy scales as $\mu^{-1}$ close to subband edges as a function of the Fermi energy $\mu$, and follows 3D scaling $\mu^{-2}$ away from them. We discuss nonlinearities beyond gate effect, and contrast results to recent experiments.

DESDEO : An Open Framework for Interactive Multiobjective Optimization

We introduce a framework for interactive multiobjective optimization methods called DESDEO released under an open source license. With the framework, we want to make interactive methods easily accessible to be applied in solving real-world problems. Cell state prediction through distributed estimation of transmit power

Determining the state of each cell, for instance, cell outages, in a densely deployed cellular network is a difficult problem. Several prior studies have used minimization of drive test (MDT) reports to detect cell outages. In this paper, we propose a two step process. First, using the MDT reports, we estimate the serving base station’s transmit power for each user. Second, we learn summary statistics of estimated transmit power for various networks states and use these to classify the network state on test data. Towards sustainable servicescape : tourists’ perspectives of accommodation service attributes

The study uses content analysis to identify the sustainable attributes in 678 accommodation reviews from Finnish and Russian tourists published on the Tripadvisor website and examines the sustainability perceptions of these tourist groups. The servicescape framework was applied to the structuring of the attributes indicating sustain-ability in accommodation services. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran kansanrunousarkiston ja Tuglas-seuran keräämää muistitiedon kilpakeruuaineistoa suomalaisten Viron-matkoista vuosilta 2009-2010. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, millainen kuva suomalaisten matkailusta Neuvosto-Viron aikaiseen Tallinnaan rakentuu heidän muistelukerronnassaan, eli millaisia asioita muistelijat ovat kokeneet merkityksellisiksi jakaa matkastaan. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu 23 suomalaisen muistelijan matkakertomuksesta, jotka käsittelevät Neuvosto-Tallinnaa ja sijoittuvat vuosien 1965-1989 väliselle ajalle.
