Cobalt, copper and zinc octacarboxyphthalocyanine activity in anaerobic oxidation of -SH group containing compounds

Wykonano serię pomiarów elektrochemicznych w celu określenia aktywności katalitycznej oktakarboksyftalocyjaniny kobaltu, cynku i miedzi w anaerobowym utlenianiu związków organicznych zawierających grupę-SH. Badano następujące substraty: 2-tioetanol (TE), L-cysteinę i 1,4-ditio-2,3-butanodiol (DTT). Jako elektrodę wskaźnikową stosowano elektrodę grafitową GE. Przeprowadzono badania dla roztworów substratów, w których potencjalny katalizator był rozpuszczony, jak i dla roztworów, w których katalizator był zaadsorbowany na powierzchni elektrody GE. Jedynie oktakarboksyftalocyjanina kobaltu, CoPcOC, zaadsorbowana na powierzchni elektrody grafitowej okazała się dobrym katalizatorem heterogennym.…

In particolare viene analizzata la relazione tra Little Italy e Chinatown, non in termini unicamente morfologici, ma osservando le dinamiche economiche relative ai due gruppi etnici e la differente integrazione nella vita socio economica, a livello del sistema urbano.

Artykuł jest próbą nakreślenia obrazu ludności Górnego Śląska w latach 1950–1989, jaki udało się odtworzyć na podstawie wybranych materiałów źródłowych, pochodzących z polskich i niemieckich archiwów. Uwaga opracowania skupiona jest przy tym na problemie różnic w postrzeganiu ludności Górnego Śląska przez polskie i niemieckie władze (Republiki Federalnej Niemiec). Variation in the Sizes of Chthamalid Barnacle Post-Settlement Cyprids on European Shores

As part of a wider study on the settlement and recruitment of Chthamalus spp. in Europe, this study investigated whether chthamalid cyprids can be separated by length on a European scale. Variation in cyprid length with latitude and temporal variation at selected localities were also examined. The lengths of cyprids collected between 1996-1999 on nine rocky shores in Europe are reported. Elminius modestus cyprids were found only at Roscoff, NW France and could be distinguished due to their Carapace shape and length. Indirect chronology method employing rare earth elements to identify Sagunto Castle mortar construction periods

A novel indirect chronology method has been developed to identify Sagunto Castle construction periods. The method is based on the use of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to determine rare earth elements (REE) and other trace elements in mortars. Additionally, a no destructive geochemical analysis based on X-ray fluorescence (XRF) was employed for major elements determination. Collected chemical data were processed through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to highlight any differences among the mortars belonging to different buildings and construction periods. Estimation of structural and geometrical properties of cortical bone by computerized tomography in 78-year-old women

The structural and geometrical properties of the tibia shaft were investigated at two sections by means of computerized tomography (CT) in 78-year-old women with high (n = 19) and low (n = 17) calcaneal bone mineral density (BMD, g/cm3) previously measured by 125I-photon absorption. The high BMD group had a 20-21% higher tibial BMD and 9-12% higher bone cross-sectional area than was observed in the low BMD group. The distribution of bone mass indicated that the low BMD group had lost bone mainly from the endosteal surface, especially in the anterior part of the tibia.
