Pētījumā piedalījušās 135 sievietes vecumā no 17 līdz 65 gadiem, internetā anonīmi aizpildot aptauju, kurā bija iekļauta Kompulsīvās ēšanas aptauja (The Compulsive Eating Scale (CES), Kagan & Squires, 1984), Emocionālās ēšanas aptauja (Emotional Eating Scale (EES); Arnow, Kenardy, & Agras, 1995), aptauja emociju regulācijas grūtību noteikšanai (Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale DERS, Gratz & Roemer, 2004), un Distresa tolerances aptauja (Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS; Simons and Gaher 2005). Apkopojot pētījuma rezultātus, var s…

Working hours – tracking the current and future trends

2021

It is important to track the trends of future working hours, since working hours have strong associations to everyday life and work-life interaction, but also to health. In this paper we aim to track the current and future trends in working hours. We discuss the trends through the key dimensions of working hours: the length, timing, tempo and autonomy. We also consider the role of current trends of spatial changes of work. Changes in working time patterns are fostered by several driving factors: globalization and business restructuring challenging the current work organizations, new information technologies, demographic and climate change and the current and future pandemics. The past and c…

The role of lipid metabolism in the acquisition of desiccation tolerance inCraterostigma plantagineum: a comparative approach

2013

Summary Dehydration leads to different physiological and biochemical responses in plants. We analysed the lipid composition and the expression of genes involved in lipid biosynthesis in the desiccation-tolerant plant Craterostigma plantagineum. A comparative approach was carried out with Lindernia brevidens (desiccation tolerant) and two desiccation-sensitive species, Lindernia subracemosa and Arabidopsis thaliana. In C. plantagineum the total lipid content remained constant while the lipid composition underwent major changes during desiccation. The most prominent change was the removal of monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) from the thylakoids. Analysis of molecular species composition rev…

Intolerance of Uncertainty and Risk Perception during the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Mediating Role of Fear of COVID-19

2022

The COVID-19 pandemic, a period of uncertainty and risk, has presented a threat to people’s physical and mental health worldwide. Previous research has shown that pandemic-related uncertainty can contribute to individuals’ psychological distress and coping responses. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and risk perception (i.e., individual’s perceived likelihood of becoming infected both for themselves and people in one’s own country and perceived severity of the infection), and the mediating role of fear of COVID-19. This two-wave longitudinal study (T1 = April 2020; T2 = May 2020) involved 486 youn…
