The Depressive Experiences Questionnaire (DEQ) is a self-report measure that assesses self-criticism and dependency, 2 personality traits that confer vulnerability to depression (Blatt, 2004). Over several decades, different, shortened versions of the DEQ have been constructed to offer an alternative to the complex scoring procedure of the original DEQ. This study explores the factor structure as well as the construct and convergent validity of the DEQ by comparing a clinical and nonclinical sample. Outpatient treatments are actually the techniques of choice in the management of low-grade hemorrhoidal disease. Among these, rubber band ligation (RBL) and injection sclerotherapy (IS) are the most frequently performed. Both techniques are used, without one having been determined to be superior over the other. We analyzed the studies that compare these two techniques in terms of efficacy and safety in order to offer a proposal for treatment choice. RBL seems to be most efficient in terms of symptom resolution for second-degree hemorrhoidal disease and equal or superior for treatment of third-degree disease. Light-induced proton slip and proton leak at the thylakoid membrane

A treatment of leaves of Spinacia oleracea L. with light or with the thiol reagent dithiothreitol in the dark led to partly uncoupled thylakoids. After induction in intact leaves, the partial uncoupling was irreversible at the level of isolated thylakoids. We distinguish between uncoupling by proton slip, which means a decrease of the H+/e(-) -ratio due to less efficient proton pumping, and proton leak as defined by enhanced kinetics of proton efflux. Proton slip and proton leak made about equal contributions to the total uncoupling. Su errónea incorporación en el ADN dispara los sistemas de reparación, los cuales pueden causar la muerte celular por una actuación ininterrumpida. Con el objetivo de prevenir esta situación, y conocida la incapacidad de las ADN polimerasas de distinguir entre el dTTP y el dUTP, las células poseen las proteínas dUTPasas (Duts), capaces de degradar este nucleótido no canónico y, en consecuencia, aumentar la ratio dTTP/dUTP en el pool de nucleótidos celular.
