Simple soil water balance model (R function)

This R function models the soil water balance (SWB) for two soil layers based on relatively simple assumptions. It is a simple method to calculate actual evapotranspiration, downward water flux (leaching), and upward water flux (or capillary rise) from two soil layers and the net flux between the two soil layers. The necessary input data comprises the change in soil water storage between two time steps per soil layer (e.g. from repeated volumetric soil water content measurements), potential evapotranspiration, precipitation, and the percentage of roots in the top soil layer. Il saggio espone i metodi e gli strumenti di ricerca utilizzati per la ricostruzione del catalogo della pioneristica Mostra D’Arte Sacra delle Madonie curata da Maria Accascina ed allestita nel 1937 presso il Convento dei PP. Riformati di Petralia Sottana, centro delle alte Madonie. Si tratta di più di quattrocento opere, tra gioielli, suppellettili liturgiche, oggetti preziosi di uso profano, coralli, paramenti sacri, tessuti, statue lignee, intagli, maioliche, tappeti, tele e tavole dipinte realizzate dal XI al XIX secolo. Hydrophobin (HFBI): a potential fusion partner for one-step purification of recombinant proteins from insect cells

Hydrophobins play an important role in binding and assembly of fungal surface structures as well as in medium-air interactions. These, hydrophobic properties provide interesting possibilities when purification of macromolecules is concerned. In aqueous micellar two-phase systems, based on surfactants, the water soluble hydrophobins are concentrated inside micellar structures and, thus, distributed to defined aqueous phases. An X-ray characterization of the central region of the supernova remnant G332.5-5.6

Aims. We present an X-ray analysis of the central region of supernova remnant (SNR) G332.5-5.6 through an exhaustive analysis of XMM-Netwon observations with complementary infrared observations. We characterize and discuss the origin of the observed X-ray morphology, which presents a peculiar plane edge over the west side of the central region. Methods. The morphology and spectral properties of the X-ray SNR were studied using a single full frame XMM-Netwon observation in the 0.3 to 10.0 keV energy band. A chiral capillary monolithic column for enantiomer separation in capillary electrochromatography was prepared by coating cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) on porous glycidyl methacrylate-co-ethylene dimethacrylate monolith in capillary format grafted with chains of [2(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] trimethylammonium chloride. Monitoring Chemical Reactions with SERS-Active Ag-Loaded Mesoporous TiO2 Films

Monitoring chemical reactions that occur in small spaces or confined environments is challenging. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy offers the unique possibility to monitor spectral changes with high sensitivity and time resolution. Herein, we report the application of composite mesoporous TiO2 films loaded with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) to track in situ chemical processes in real time. The liquid argon calorimeter is a key component of the ATLAS detector installed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Background Triatoma infestans is the main vector of Chagas disease in South America. As in all hematophagous arthropods, its saliva contains a complex cocktail that assists blood feeding by preventing platelet aggregation and blood clotting and promoting vasodilation. These salivary components can be immunologically recognized by their vector's hosts and targeted with antibodies that might disrupt blood feeding.
