STRATEGIE E CRITERI PROGETTUALI PER LA CONVERSIONE DI LINEE FERROVIARIE DISMESSE IN PERCORSI VERDI
2009
Talent Competitiveness and Competitiveness through Talent
2014
Abstract The current economic environment makes us acknowledge that the human factor is the most critical resource for all national economies which aspire to improve their competitiveness and innovativeness in a sustainable way. Talent is the engine of that and a growing number of countries have recognized the importance of talent competitiveness. This article aims to cast a light on this matter and to present the findings of the Global Talent Competitiveness Report form 2013 which shows us why “the war for talent” is a global one. Also, the article provides some guidelines for a deeper understanding of talent: how we can attract and retain the workforce of the future.
Institutional perspectives on retailing : rethinking the adoption of large-scale retailing in Finland
2018
This dissertation focuses on the adoption of the hypermarket in Finnish retailing and examines how major retail organizations experienced the transition from established practices into new logic of retail business, the large-scale retail trade. The research builds on DiMaggio and Powell’s (1983) analytical categorization of institutional isomorphic mechanisms, but utilizes more recent theorizations and insights of organizational institutionalism in the detailed theoretical framing. My research questions were as follows. How did Finnish retail organizations initially regard the hypermarket format? How did their stances change over time? To answer these questions, I examined the adoption of t…
Overcoming Barriers to Transnational Organizing Through Identity Work : Finnish-Estonian Trade Union Cooperation
2018
This article analyses a project by Finnish and Estonian unions to adopt ‘organizing model’ strategies through establishing the transnational ‘Baltic Organising Academy’. Initially aimed at Estonian workplaces, successful campaigns inspired Finnish unions to copy the model in Finland. This cooperation was originally motivated by labour market interdependence between the two countries, and the failure of past social-partnership oriented union strategies in Estonia. The willingness of Finnish and Estonian unions to commit resources to transnational cooperation around an ‘organizing model’ marks a dramatic departure from the unions’ previous strategies. This change was accomplished by transnati…
Density Decline in a Mediterranean Seahorse Population: Natural Fluctuations or New Emerging Threats?
2021
Illegal wildlife trade is considered one of the most serious threats to biodiversity worldwide, along with habitat loss/degradation and overfishing of wild stocks. Seahorses are considered at high risk as these fish represent an important component of traditional Chinese medicine but are also sold as curios and ornamental fish. On a worldwide level, illegal trade is controlled by numerous laws and regulations, but it seems to continue by assuming more dynamic routes. In the Mediterranean Sea, Hippocampus guttulatus formed one of the largest populations at Mar Piccolo di Taranto in South-Eastern Italy. During the routine monitoring of this population in 2016, a dramatic density decrease was …
The dynamics of Italian competitive positioning in the Mediterranean Bluefin tuna industry
2020
The bluefin tuna or Thunnus thynnus is one of the widely recognised fish species since ancient times. Italy is the most important players in the international arena, however, the introduction of a system of total allowable catches and other measures established by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas, has deeply changed the competitive positioning of Italy. The aim of this study is to perform an analysis of the comparative advantage of Italy by using the relative trade advantage index. Findings reveal that Italy has gained a competitive advantage in the Maltese market and has suffered a loss of the historical competitive advantage in the Japanese one. Results …
Trade And Environment: A Historical Perspective
2015
Abstract The relation between international trade and environmental and social issues has deep historical roots, having been manifest ever since the first industrial revolution. Ironically, the expansion of industrial activities marked, besides the exit from economic backwardness, the commencement of an inexorable war of men against nature. Concomitantly industrialization laid the groundwork for an explosive increase in international trade, which made the latter responsible for increasing environment degradation and social rights infringement. The removal of trade barriers in the first decades after the Second World War as well as the subsequent regulation induced by globalization rendered …
Intellectual Capital – The Key for Sustainable Competitive Advantage for the SME's Sector
2015

The aim of this article is to show, through an original argumentation, based on the analysis…
