Testing and implementing a new approach to estimating interregional output multipliers using input-output data for South Korean regions

Flegg's location quotient (FLQ) is a useful tool for estimating intraregional output multipliers. This paper uses it as one component when estimating interregional multipliers. Using statistical information criteria and official data for 16 South Korean regions, it is found that the best approach is to combine the FLQ with a simple trade model. The paper explains how the proposed procedure can be implemented for both multiple and individual regions, and also how a region-specific value for the unknown parameter δ in the FLQ formula can be determined. Finally, an illustrative case study of one of the regions is carried out.

The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of trade union representatives toward companies’ CSR practices. The research participants were representatives of altogether nine Finnish trade unions and one Finnish solidarity centre representing the trade unions. The data had been collected as part of a bigger research project concerning trade unions and CSR but this study is an independent research using the same data. Conservation resource allocation involves a complex set of considerations including species, habitats, connectivity, local to global biodiversity objectives, alternative protection and restoration actions, while requiring cost-efficiency and effective implementation. We present a national scale spatial conservation prioritization analysis for complementing the network of protected mires in Finland. We show how spatial prioritization coupled with regional targets and expert knowledge can facilitate structured decision-making. In this study pollutant emissions were estimated from VSP modal emission rates and the distribution of time spent in each VSP mode obtained from the speed profiles both gathered in the field and simulated in AIMSUN at a sample of urban roundabouts. The versatility of the micro-simulation model for a calibration aimed at improving accuracy of emissions estimates was tested in order to ensure that second-by-second trajectories experienced in the field by a test vehicle through the sampled roundabouts properly reflected the simulated speed profiles. This paper describes the calibration methodology based on speed-density relationships in the microsimulation calibration process, stated that they represent the traffic flow phenomenon in a wide range of operational conditions and well summarize all the information that may be collected on field (or following a run of the microsimulation model) on two of the three key variables of traffic flow.
