ResumenEl objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar las razones por las que las empresas manufactureras españolas conceden crédito comercial a sus clientes. Hemos analizado teórica y empíricamente 2 aspectos: el efecto producido por la crisis financiero-económica y la importancia que tiene la diversificación de la actividad y el tipo de cliente al que se le concede el crédito comercial. Labour Mobility in Construction: European Implications of the Laval un Partneri Dispute with Swedish Labour

The accession to the European Union of new member states from central and eastern Europe, with weak trade union movements, poorly developed social dialogue and inferior working conditions, has been viewed as a threat to regulated labour standards in the EU-15. This article examines a high-profile labour dispute arising from the conditions of Latvian construction contract labour in Sweden. The dispute exposes weaknesses in the protective floor of minimum standards offered by the posted workers Directive. It also goes to the core of the debate about the preservation of a ‘European social model’ and the proposed Services Directive.

Abstract Institutional resources are one of four sources of power available to trade unions (Gumbrell –McCormick and Hyman, 2013). Literature has tended to pay more attention to associational and organizational power and to emphasize the indispensable but problematic character of institutional resources. Membership duration in a Spanish union : a survival analysis

WP1: Compilation This article presents an analysis of the characteristics that are associated with union membership duration using data from the membership registers of the largest Spanish trade union: Comisiones Obreras (CCOO, Workers' Commissions). Making use of survival analysis techniques, the results indicate that the shortest membership durations and the highest risks of leaving are associated with workers with poor employment conditions, mainly youth and foreigners, as well as those in firms, economic sectors, and territories where the union has a rather weak presence. Hyper-mobile migrant workers and Dutch trade union representation strategies at the Eemshaven construction sites

The EU regulatory regime and employers’ cross-border recruitment practices complicate unions’ ability to represent increasingly diverse and transnationally mobile workers. Even in institutional contexts where the industrial relations structure and labour law are favourable, such as the Netherlands, unions struggle with maintaining labour standards for these workers. This study examines Nordic management styles in union and non-union industrial enterprises in the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) through case studies of nine Nordic subsidiary companies, based on on-site interviews with management and employees.1 This analysis construes the ‘Nordic model’ of management style as ‘bargained constitutional’ or ‘sophisticated consultative’, following Purcell and Ahlstrand's (1994) matrix of management styles in the highly unionized countries of origin, characterized as coordinated market economies. Team autonomy, organizational commitment and company performance - a study in the retail trade

The study focuses on the relationship between perceived team autonomy and company performance through highlighting organizational commitment as a mediating factor in this relationship. Data collected in 2007 came from 25 small-sized companies in the retail trade, covering both the employer and employee levels (n = 369). The Case for Regulating Huawei

Huawei’s growth overseas has paralleled that of China Inc ( Li and Farrell, 2020 ). Through favorable policies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, China has paved the way for Chinese multinationals to capture global markets, acquire and exploit new technologies, and have privileged access to local resources. In turn, Huawei has played an important role in the development of China Inc., its technological capabilities and global diplomatic relations. But Huawei plays by a different set of rules: it has been accused of unfair and illegal practices, and for breaking international norms. This perspective explores the need for regulatory oversight of Huawei.
