A method to reduce the FP/imm number through CC and MLO views comparison in mammographic images

2008

In this paper we propose a method to reduce the FP/imm number through CC and MLO mammographic views comparison of the same patient. The proposed solution uses the symmetry properties of the breast to compute a geometric transformation that permits to represent the two images in comparable coordinates systems. Through this method, potential pathological ROIs of one of the projections are correlated with the ROIs in the second view. To show the effectiveness of the result we apply the method on a dataset composed of 112 couples of pathological images. Experiments shows that method enables a reduction by up to 700/0 of the FP/imm number detected after the classification step

La circulation des objets métalliques à l'âge du Bronze entre Rhône et Saône: utilisation d'une transformation cartographique linéaire

2006

In order to gain a better understanding of circulation flows of metal objects during the Bronze Age, and move beyond traditional distribution maps of archaeological discoveries, the authors propose a more quantitative and concise method of graphic representation, namely cartographic linear transformation. The value of the method was tested on the Saône-Rhône axis. Bronze axes, swords and daggers were recorded along a 50 km strip either side of the river axis, in order to estimate the frequency and mass of objects in “circulation”.

Multi-channel search for squarks and gluinos in root s=7 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

2013

A search for supersymmetric particles in final states with zero, one, and two leptons, with and without jets identified as originating from b-quarks, in 4.7 fb[superscript −1] of √s = 7 TeV pp collisions produced by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded by the ATLAS detector is presented. The search uses a set of variables carrying information on the event kinematics transverse and parallel to the beam line that are sensitive to several topologies expected in supersymmetry. Mutually exclusive final states are defined, allowing a combination of all channels to increase the search sensitivity. No deviation from the Standard Model expectation is observed. Upper limits at 95 % confidence level…

Biotransformation in vitro of the 22R and 22S epimers of budesonide by human liver, bronchus, colonic mucosa and skin.

2001

The pharmacological effects of glucocorticoids are greatly influenced by their pharmacokinetic properties. In the present report, the in vitro biotransformation of the 22R and 22S epimers of the topical steroid budesonide was studied in the S-9 fraction of human liver, bronchus, skin and colonic mucosa. The disappearance of unchanged epimers of budesonide was measured during 90 min of incubation by high performance liquid chromatography. The rate of disappearance was high in human liver while little biotransformation occurred in bronchial tissue and colonic mucosa, and none was detected in the skin. A marked decay of the initial concentration of unchanged budesonide epimers was noticed afte…

2021

The increasing digitalization of economies has highlighted the importance of digital transformation and how it can help businesses stay competitive in the market. However, disruptive changes not only occur at the company level; they also have environmental, societal, and institutional implications. This is the reason why during the past two decades the research on digital transformation has received growing attention, with a wide range of topics investigated in the literature. The following aims to provide insight regarding the current state of the literature on digital transformation (DT) by conducting a systematic literature review. An analysis of co-occurrence using the software VOSviewe…

Evolution-Oriented User-Centric Data Warehouse

2011

Data warehouses tend to evolve, because of changes in data sources and business requirements of users. All these kinds of changes must be properly handled, therefore, data warehouse development is never-ending process. In this paper we propose the evolution-oriented user-centric data warehouse design, which on the one hand allows to manage data warehouse evolution automatically or semi-automatically, and on the other hand it provides users with the understandable, easy and transparent data analysis possibilities. The proposed approach supports versions of data warehouse schemata and data semantics.

Orbital Decomposition of the Carbon Chemical Shielding Tensor in Gold(I) N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes.

2020

The good performance of N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), in terms of versatility and selectivity, has called the attention of experimentalists and theoreticians attempting to understand their electronic properties. Analyses of the Au(I)–C bond in [(NHC)AuL]+/0 (L stands for a neutral or negatively charged ligand), through the Dewar–Chatt–Duncanson model and the charge displacement function, have revealed that NHC is not purely a σ‐donor but may have a significant π‐acceptor character. It turns out, however, that only the σ‐donation bonding component strongly correlates with one specific component of the chemical shielding tensor. Here, in extension to earlier works, a current density analysi…

Tumorigenic conversion of endothelial cells.

2003

Tumors of endothelial origin develop rarely. Until now, only two angiosarcoma (AS)-derived endothelial cell lines have been be isolated, ISO-HAS and AS-M. Both AS-derived endothelial cell lines presented the typical endothelial characteristics, such as the expression of CD31 and von Willebrand factor, but differed from normal endothelial cells in a nuclear expression of p53, in a delayed angiogenic reaction, and a reduced expression of caveolin. In addition, differences in the expression of cytokines and cell adhesion molecules responsive to proinflammatory stimuli were observed. While AS-M showed an expression pattern similar to that of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), ISO-H…

Liver-infiltrating and circulating CD4+ T cells in chronic hepatitis C: immunodominant epitopes, HLA-restriction and functional significance.

2008

The aim was to assess the specificity and functional significance of liver-infiltrating and peripheral blood T cells in chronic hepatitis C. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells hepatitis C virus from 50 of 58 (86.2%) patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection and 6 of 28 (21.4%) controls showed a proliferative T cell response to at least one of 16 synthetic peptides covering highly conserved regions of the core, envelope (El) and non-structural regions (NS4) of hepatitis C virus. However, six immunodominant peptides were exclusively recognized by the proliferating blood mononuclear cells from 46 patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection (79.3%). Fine specificity and HLA-restri…

RUINS PRESERVATION, TRANSFORMATION IN THEIR USE: HOUSING PROJECTS IN THE OLD TOWN CENTRE OF PALERMO

2011
