A physical-based constitutive model for surface integrity prediction in machining of OFHC copper
2017
International audience; Due to the rising interest in predicting machined surface integrity and sustainability, various models for metal cutting simulation have been developed. However, their accuracy depends deeply on the physical description of the machining process. This study aims to develop an orthogonal cutting model for surface integrity prediction, which includes a physical-based constitutive model of Oxygen Free High Conductivity (OFHC) copper. This constitutive model incorporates the effects of the state of stress and microstructure on the work material behavior, as well as a dislocation density-based model for surface integrity prediction. The coefficients of the constitutive mod…
Orthogonal cutting simulation of OFHC copper using a new constitutive model considering the state of stress and the microstructure effects
2016
International audience; This work aims to develop an orthogonal cutting model for surface integrity prediction, which incorporates a new constitutive model of Oxygen Free High Conductivity (OFHC) copper. It accounts for the effects of the state of stress on the flow stress evolution up to fracture. Moreover, since surface integrity parameters are sensitive to the microstructure of the work material, this constitutive model highlights also the recrystallization effects on the flow stress. Orthogonal cutting model is validated using experimental designed cutting tests. More accurate predictions were obtained using this new constitutive model comparing to the classical Johnson-Cook model.
An empirical method to determine the free surface energy of solids at different deformations and temperatures regimes : An application to Al.
2005
Abstract We have performed molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using the three low index surfaces of Al to determine the variation of the surface energy as a function of deformation and temperature. We have also developed an empirical formulation for the surface free energy as a function of deformation. The observed difference between the numerical and analytical results has led us to divide the deformation into a mechanical and a thermal contribution. From this observation, we have obtained an expression for the surface free energy placing the temperature dependence on the bulk and surface elastic constants. Our simulations permitted us to analyze the multilayer relaxation for the particul…
Network architectures and energy efficiency for high performance data centers
2017
The increasing trend to migrate applications, computation and storage into more robust systems leads to the emergence of mega data centers hosting tens of thousands of servers. As a result, designing a data center network that interconnects this massive number of servers, and providing efficient and fault-tolerant routing service are becoming an urgent need and a challenge that will be addressed in this thesis. Since this is a hot research topic, many solutions are proposed like adapting new interconnection technologies and new algorithms for data centers. However, many of these solutions generally suffer from performance problems, or can be quite costly. In addition, devoted efforts have n…
Raman investigation of the drawing effects on Ge-doped fibers
2011
International audience; We have investigated the Raman activity of various germanosilicate fibers and their associated preforms. Our data indicate an enhancement in small rings' (3-member rings) concentration in the silica-based matrix of the fibers during the drawing process. The generation of such rings appears compatible with an increase of the sample density and fictive temperature. The data regarding the drawing effects on the fiber stress appear less clear, and it is possible to suggest that in some cases the drawing could lower the tensile stress. Finally we have also provided evidence that changing the drawing conditions within the usual range of application leads to no significant …
Obesity and Interpersonal Problems: An Analysis with the Interpersonal Circumplex
2012
This study examines the interpersonal problems profiles of obese individuals by cluster analysing the interpersonal problems circumplex scores of participants. The Inventory of Interpersonal Problems— Short Circumplex (IIP‐32) was completed by 368 treatment‐seeking obese individuals. These data were cluster analysed, and groups of obese subjects defined by varying interpersonal problems were compared with regard to psychological distress, self‐esteem, body dissatisfaction, quality of life and binge behaviours. Cluster analyses of the IIP‐32 resulted in four clusters, which occupied two quadrants of the interpersonal circumplex. Several differences in body mass index, psychological distress,…
