Screw‐in‐screw fixation of fragility sacrum fractures provides high stability without loosening—biomechanical evaluation of a new concept

Surgical treatment of fragility sacrum fractures with percutaneous sacroiliac (SI) screw fixation is associated with high failure rates. Turn-out is detected in up to 20% of the patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate a new screw-in-screw implant prototype for fragility sacrum fracture fixation. Twenty-seven artificial hemipelvises were assigned to three groups (n = 9) for instrumentation of an SI screw, the new screw-in-screw implant prototype, ora transsacral screw. Enhanced prolylhydroxylase activity in the posterior annulus fibrosus of canine intervertebral discs following long-term running exercise

The effect of long-term excercise on the intervertebral disc collagen concentration (hydroxyproline), collagen-synthesizing enzymes (prolyl-4-hydroxylase, PH, and galactosyl-hydroxylysyl glucosyltransferase, GGT) and hydroxypyridinium crosslinks was studied in ten female beagle dogs. The dogs were run on a treadmill for 1 year starting at the age of 15 weeks. The daily running distance was gradually increased to 40km, which distance the dogs ran for the final 15 weeks. The Cockayne syndrome B (CSB) gene product is involved in the repair of various types of base modifications in actively transcribed DNA sequences. To investigate its significance for the repair of endogenous oxidative DNA damage, homozygous csb(-/-)/ogg1(-/-) double knockout mice were generated. These combine the deficiency of CSB with that of OGG1, a gene coding for the mammalian repair glycosylase that initiates the base excision repair of 7,8-dihydro-8-oxoguanine (8-oxoG). Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli tarkastella musiikin kuuntelua stressin lievityksessä arkipäivässä. Musiikin kuuntelun on todettu lievittävän stressiä tehokkaasti mutta aiemmat tutkimukset aiheesta ovat olleet lähinnä määrällisiä. Tässä tutkimuksessa aihetta lähestyttiin laadullisin menetelmin, jossa pyrittiin stressin lievityksen osalta kartoittamaan musiikillisten piirteiden lisäksi myös ihmisten kokemuksia aiheesta. Tutkimus toteutettiin haastattelemalla neljää henkilöä, jotka kuuntelivat musiikkia arkipäivässään stressin lievitykseen. Haastatteluaineisto analysoitiin sisällönanalyysin keinoin. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether women's emotions associate differently with the mobile phone depending on the type of family in which they live. James A. Russell's circumplex model of affect which explores four main emotional dimensions, excitement, distress, depression and contentment, was applied. The article is based on the female sub-sample (N = 3,704) of nationally representative survey data collected from Italy, France, the UK, Germany and Spain (N = 7,255) in 2009.
