Determination of type A and type B trichothecenes in paprika and chili pepper using LC-triple quadrupole-MS and GC-ECD.

2011

There is a need to develop sensitive and accurate analytical methods for determining deoxynivalenol (DON), HT-2 toxin and T-2 toxin in paprika to properly assess the relevant risk of human exposure. An optimized analytical method for determination of HT-2 toxin and T-2 toxin using capillary gas chromatography with electron capture detection and another method for determination of DON by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry in paprika was developed. The method for determination of HT-2 toxin and T-2 toxin that gave the best recoveries involved extraction of the sample with acetonitrile-water (84:16, v/v), clean-up by solid-phase extraction on a cartridge made of different sorbent material…

Toward an Understanding of the Molecular Mechanism of the Reaction between 1-Methylpyrrole and Dimethyl Acetylenedicarboxylate. An ab Initio Study

1998

The molecular mechanism for the reaction between 1-methylpyrrole and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) has been studied using ab initio methods. Two alternative reaction pathways have been considered, both of which correspond to stepwise processes with initial, rate-determining formation of a common zwitterionic intermediate. This intermediate is formed by nucleophilic attack of the pyrrole ring to the carbon−carbon triple bond of DMAD. Closure of this intermediate (pathway A) affords a [4 + 2] cycloadduct, whereas intramolecular proton transfer (pathway B) affords a Michael adduct. The much larger potential energy barrier of the second step in pathway B relative to pathway A is respon…

On the additivity of block designs

2016

We show that symmetric block designs $${\mathcal {D}}=({\mathcal {P}},{\mathcal {B}})$$D=(P,B) can be embedded in a suitable commutative group $${\mathfrak {G}}_{\mathcal {D}}$$GD in such a way that the sum of the elements in each block is zero, whereas the only Steiner triple systems with this property are the point-line designs of $${\mathrm {PG}}(d,2)$$PG(d,2) and $${\mathrm {AG}}(d,3)$$AG(d,3). In both cases, the blocks can be characterized as the only k-subsets of $$\mathcal {P}$$P whose elements sum to zero. It follows that the group of automorphisms of any such design $$\mathcal {D}$$D is the group of automorphisms of $${\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal {D}$$GD that leave $$\mathcal {P}$$P in…

Meir-Keeler Type Contractions for Tripled Fixed Points

2012

Abstract In 2011, Berinde and Borcut [6] introduced the notion of tripled fixed point in partially ordered metric spaces. In our paper, we give some new tripled fixed point theorems by using a generalization of Meir-Keeler contraction.

The convolution operation on the spectra of algebras of symmetric analytic functions

2012

Abstract We show that the spectrum of the algebra of bounded symmetric analytic functions on l p , 1 ≤ p + ∞ with the symmetric convolution operation is a commutative semigroup with the cancellation law for which we discuss the existence of inverses. For p = 1 , a representation of the spectrum in terms of entire functions of exponential type is obtained which allows us to determine the invertible elements.

Lie nilpotence of group rings

1993

Let FG be the group algebra of a group G over a field F. Denote by ∗ the natural involution, (∑fi gi -1. Let S and K denote the set of symmetric and skew symmetric and skew symmetric elements respectively with respect to this involutin. It is proved that if the characteristic of F is zero p≠2 and G has no 2-elements, then the Lie nilpotence of S or K implies the Lie nilpotence of FG.

Triple planes with $p_g=q=0$

2019

We show that general triple planes with p_g=q=0 belong to at most 12 families, that we call surfaces of type I,..., XII, and we prove that the corresponding Tschirnhausen bundle is direct sum of two line bundles in cases I, II, III, whereas is a rank 2 Steiner bundle in the remaining cases. We also provide existence results and explicit constructions for surfaces of type I,..., VII, recovering all classical examples and discovering several new ones. In particular, triple planes of type VII provide counterexamples to a wrong claim made in 1942 by Bronowski.

Common fixed point theorems for mappings satisfying common property (E.A.) in symmetric spaces

2011

In this paper, common fixed point theorems for mappings satisfying a generalized contractive condition are obtained in symmetric spaces by using the notion of common property (E.A.). In the process, a host of previously known results are improved and generalized. We also derive results on common fixed point in probabilistic symmetric spaces.

Can NF-κB Be Considered a Valid Drug Target in Neoplastic Diseases? Our Point of View

2020

Multidrug resistance (MDR), of the innate and acquired types, is one of major problems in treating tumor diseases with a good chance of success. In this review, we examine the key role of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) to induce MDR in three tumor models characterized precisely by innate or acquired MDR, in particular triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We also present different pharmacological approaches that our group have employed to reduce the expression/activation of this transcriptional factor and thus to restore chemo-sensitivity. Finally, we examine the latest scientific evidence found by other groups, the most sign…

Vibrational relaxation of Na2 molecules in a triplet state: collisional transfer from a mixed A 1Σu+ − b3Πu gateway level to long-lived levels of b 3…

1997

Abstract Collision-induced vibrational transitions of Na2 within the b 3Π1u state have been observed in a free jet expansion, using two CW dye lasers for the pump and probe steps. The b-state is entered by the pump laser using a low mixed ( A 1 Σ u + − b 3 Π u ) level as a gateway. The occupations of various v′,J′-levels are studied as functions of the position in the flowing gas. The radiative lifetimes of Na2 in levels which had been populated by vibrational relaxation are found to be very long (> 4 μs). Cross-sections are estimated for vibrationally inelastic collisions with Na and Ar atoms.
