Min-max control of uncertain multi-inventory systems with multiplicative uncertainties

2001

In this note, we consider production-distribution systems with buffer and capacity constraints. For such systems, we assume that the model is not known exactly. More precisely, the entries of the matrix representing the system structure may be affine functions of some uncertain time-varying parameters that take values within assigned bounds. We give stabilizability conditions that can be checked, in principle, by solving a min-max problem on the surface of the state-space (buffer level space) unit ball. Then, we consider a special case in which each uncertain parameter affects a single column of the system matrix and is independent of all the other ones. In this case, we propose a mixed int…

Association of AUUUA-binding Protein with A + U-rich mRNA during nucleo-cytoplasmic transport

1992

Resealed nuclear envelope (NE) vesicles from rat liver containing entrapped exogenous RNA were used to study the effect of adenosine+uridine binding factor (AUBF), present in cytosolic cell extracts, on ATP-dependent transport of A+U-rich RNA (AU+RNA) and A+U-free RNA (AU-RNA) across the NE. This factor specifically binds to A+U-rich sequences present in the 3' untranslated regions of lymphokine and cytokine mRNAs, containing overlapping AUUUA boxes (granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor, interleukin-3). Addition of AUBF to the extravesicular compartment markedly increased the efflux of the in vitro transcribed, capped and polyadenylated AU+ RNAs. Export of entrapped AU- control …

Nitric oxide increases the decay of matrix metalloproteinase 9 mRNA by inhibiting the expression of mRNA-stabilizing factor HuR.

2003

Dysregulation of extracellular matrix turnover is an important feature of many inflammatory processes. Rat renal mesangial cells express high levels of matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) in response to inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 beta. We demonstrate that NO does strongly destabilize MMP-9 mRNA, since different luciferase reporter gene constructs containing the MMP-9 3' untranslated region (UTR) displayed significant reduced luciferase activity in response to the presence of NO. Moreover, by use of an in vitro degradation assay we found that the cytoplasmic fractions of NO-treated cells contained a higher capacity to degrade MMP-9 transcripts than those obtained from contro…

Myotonic dystrophy associated expanded CUG repeat muscleblind positive ribonuclear foci are not toxic to Drosophila

2005

Myotonic dystrophy type 1 is an autosomal dominant disorder associated with the expansion of a CTG repeat in the 3 0 untranslated region (UTR) of the DMPK gene. Recent data suggest that pathogenesis is predominantly mediated by a gain of function of the mutant transcript. In patients, these expanded CUG repeat-containing transcripts are sequestered into ribonuclear foci that also contain the muscleblind-like proteins. To provide further insights into muscleblind function and the pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy, we generated Drosophila incorporating CTG repeats in the 3 0 -UTR of a reporter gene. As in patients, expanded CUG repeats form discrete ribonuclear foci in Drosophila muscle cell…

Peptide classification using optimal and information theoretic syntactic modeling

2010

Accepted version of an article published in the journal: Pattern Recognition. Published version available on Sciverse: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.patcog.2010.05.022 We consider the problem of classifying peptides using the information residing in their syntactic representations. This problem, which has been studied for more than a decade, has typically been investigated using distance-based metrics that involve the edit operations required in the peptide comparisons. In this paper, we shall demonstrate that the Optimal and Information Theoretic (OIT) model of Oommen and Kashyap [22] applicable for syntactic pattern recognition can be used to tackle peptide classification problem. We advoca…

BIBO Stability Analysis for Delay Switched Systems with Nonlinear Perturbation

2013

Published version of a paper from the journal:Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from Hindawi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/738653 The problem of bounded-input bounded-output ( BIBO) stability is investigated for a class of delay switched systems with mixed time-varying discrete and constant neutral delays and nonlinear perturbation. Based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional theory, new BIBO stabilization criteria are established in terms of delay-dependent linear matrix inequalities. The numerical simulation is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the results obtained in the paper.

A linear matrix inequality approach to robust fault detection filter design of linear systems with mixed time-varying delays and nonlinear perturbati…

2010

Accepted version of an article in the journal: Journal of the Franklin Institute-Engineering and Applied Mathematics. The definitive version can be found on Sciverse: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jfranklin.2010.03.004 In this paper, the problem of robust fault detection filter (RFDF) design for a class of linear systems with some nonlinear perturbations and mixed neutral and discrete time-varying delays is investigated. By using a descriptor technique, Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and a suitable change of variables, new required sufficient conditions are established in terms of delay-dependent linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to synthesize the residual generation scheme. A novel evaluation model for hybrid power system based on vague set and Dempster-Shafer evidence theory

2012

Published version of an article from the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/784389 Because clean energy and traditional energy have different advantages and disadvantages, it is of great significance to evaluate comprehensive benefits for hybrid power systems. Based on thorough analysis of important characters on hybrid power systems, an index system including security, economic benefit, environmental benefit, and social benefit is established in this paper. Due to advantages of processing abundant uncertain and fuzzy information, vague set is used to determine the decision matrix. Convert vague decision matrix to …

Stability andl1-Gain Analysis for Positive 2D Systems with State Delays in the Roesser Model

2013

This paper considers the problem of delay-dependent stability andl1-gain analysis for positive 2D systems with state delays described by the Roesser model. Firstly, the copositive-type Lyapunov function method is used to establish the sufficient conditions for the addressed positive 2D system to be asymptotically stable. Then,l1-gain performance for the system is also analyzed. All the obtained results are formulated in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which are computationally tractable. Finally, an illustrative example is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed results.
