Access of the novel biferrocene amino acid 7 is provided by two different routes, namely, via desymmetrization of a biferrocene and via palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of two substituted ferrocenes. The dissymmetric biferrocene 7 is head−head coupled to ureylene-bridged bis(biferrocene) 9 and also head−tail coupled to amide-bridged bis(biferrocene) 14. The monomer 7 and the dimers 9 and 14 are oxidized to mixed-valent cations 7+, 9+, 92+, and 142+. The valencies are trapped in the solid state as shown by Mossbauer and EPR spectroscopy and by X-ray diffraction analysis of [7](I3). Probing nucleons with photons at the quark level

The description of electromagnetic interactions with hadrons from the quark level requires knowledge of the underlying quark-gluon ingredients. I discuss some properties of the quark-photon vertex and quark Compton vertex, along with the role of electromagnetic gauge invariance and vector-meson dominance. A simple parametrization for the quark-photon vertex is given.

In this paper, using the Chambers isoperimetric inequality, we introduce the notion of weighted rearrangement of a function associated to the measure $f dx$, where $f(x)=e^{g(|x|)}$ for $x \in \mathbb{R}^n}$, with $g$ smooth, convex and even. Then we give some of its applications to variational inequalities and PDEs via weighted symmetrization.

ABSTRACT The main goal of this research was to characterize the bacterial diversity of the wooden boards used for aging traditional Sicilian cheeses and to evaluate whether pathogenic bacteria are associated with these surfaces. Eighteen cheese dairy factories producing three traditional cheese typologies (PDO Pecorino Siciliano, PDO Piacentinu Ennese, and Caciocavallo Palermitano) were selected within the region of Sicily. The wooden shelf surfaces were sampled by a destructive method to detach wood splinters as well as by a nondestructive brushing to collect microbial cells. Reliable and precise information about the wind speed climate is crucial for the development of wind energy. Meteorological processes in the mesoscale (2 – 200 km) can be represented using Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models such as the Weather Research and Forecast model (WRF), but before their application for creating wind energy atlases, their results and sensitivity to modelling parameters should be investigated. Here the WRF model wind speed results for the year 2015 for the Baltic Sea region are investigated, and the effect of the planetary boundary layer parametrization scheme is analyzed.
