Evaluation of curd cooking on microbiological characteristics of “Grana” type pressed cheeses processed from raw ewes’ milk

This work was carried out to pursue a double objective: to improve the hygienic safety of cheeses produced from raw ewes’ milk; and to produce a new typology of cheese through the application of “Grana” technology. With this in mind, raw milk from an individual farm was transformed under controlled condition at a pilot dairy plant. The effect of disorder on optical spectra of conjugated polymers

Abstract Using the semi-empirical parametrization of the Pariser-Parr-Pople model we determine the excitonic states in conjugated polymers. The employed parameters correspond to a moderate strength of the long-range Coulomb interaction. In order to take the disorder into account, the nearest-neighbour transfer matrix elements are chosen according to a random distribution. Averaging the results over a large number of chains of 100 sites, which are known to be sufficiently long so that finite-size effects become negligible, we obtain the linear and third-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities. Aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of grazing on Trifolium subterraneum and Lolium multiflorum, as pure or associated crops, on the chemical composition and on the fatty acid profile of the intramuscular lipids of the meat of lambs. In response to the growing consumer demand for fresh cheese in summer, this investigation was aimed to evaluate the chemical and microbiological characteristics of sheep’s milk and cheese produced in Sicily in the hot summer months. A total of 810 bulk milk samples collected from 17 farms rearing ewes of the Valle del Belice breed were analysed for chemical composition, somatic cell count, total bacterial count and clotting parameters. Stereoselective desymmetrization of 4-pyridone has been achieved through selective N-galactosylation, activation of the N-(galactosyl)pyridone by O-silylation and immediate addition of Grignard compounds. Chiral piperidine derivatives, e.g. (S)-(+)-coniine and (5S,9S)-(+)-indolozidine 167B, were synthesised in enantiomerically pure form using these highly regio- and stereoselective reactions. After N-galactosylation of 2-pyridone and O-silylation of the N-galactosyl-2-pyridone, addition of a Grignard compound proceeded with high 1,4-regioselectivity and complete diastereoselectivity, to furnish 4-substituted 5,6-dehydro-2-piperidones.
