Silver Oxide Mediated Monotosylation of Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG): Heterobifunctional PEG via Polymer Desymmetrization

Heterobifunctional poly(ethylene glycol)s (PEGs) are key structures for bioconjugation in the context of the “PEGylation” strategy to enhance blood circulation times of, for example, peptide drugs or “stealth” liposomes. The formation of heterobifunctional PEGs from symmetric PEG diols is challenging because of limited yields of the targeted monofunctional product and difficulties associated with separation steps. Valoración del estado de salud como calidad de vida. Aplicación de la matriz de Rosser en toxicomanías

Se analizan las valoraciones sobre la calidad de vida percibida que un colectivo de personas con adicción a opiáceos realiza respecto a un conjunto de estados de salud, y si dichas valoraciones son equivalentes a las realizadas por un colectivo normativo de usuarios sanos. A través de técnicas de grupo nominal y mediante la aplicación de la matriz de Rosser, 30 personas en tratamiento en un programa de mantenimiento con metadona ofrecen valoraciones de calidad de vida a diferentes estados de salud. The present study was carried to correlate the microbial diversity of the biofilms developed on the wooden boards used for aging traditional Sicilian cheeses with cheese typology. To this end, the microbial diversity of the shelves in contact with the cheeses PDO Pecorino Siciliano, PDO Piacentinu Ennese, and TAP Caciocavallo Palermitano, during ripening, was evaluated by a multivariate statistical approach. Structural and spectroscopic study of the Br2...3-Br-pyridine complex by DFT calculations.

Abstract The structure and the Raman vibrational spectrum of the complex Br 2 ⋯3-Br-pyridine are determined by DFT calculations using different parametrizations. The calculations are performed taking into account the effects of the dichloromethane as solvent by the CPCM method. A value of 39 kJ mol −1 for the formation enthalpy and of 1 kJ mol −1 for the formation free energy at room temperature in presence of the solvent is found. The predicted Raman spectrum is compared with the experimental one and the essential features of the spectrum are well reproduced by the B3LYP parametrization. ChPT parameters from tau-decay data

Using the updated ALEPH V-A spectral function from tau decays, we determine the lowest spectral moments of the left-right correlator and extract dynamical information on order parameters of the QCD chiral symmetry breaking. Uncertainties associated with violations of quark-hadron duality are estimated from the data, imposing all known short-distance constraints on a resonance-based parametrization. Employing proper pinched weight functions, we obtain an accurate determination of the effective chiral couplings L10 and C87 and the dimension-six and -eight contributions in the Operator Product Expansion.

La técnica más empleada para la restauración de la barrera cutánea en los pacientes quemados es el injerto de piel autólogo de espesor parcial. Su obtención conlleva generar un área cruenta a nivel de otra localización cutánea del mismo paciente, conocida como zona donante. Esta área cura generalmente en un período de entre 7 y 14 días mediante un proceso de cicatrización dirigida. Cuando existen grandes defectos que requieren cobertura, como es el caso de los grandes quemados en los que la extensión de la quemadura limita la disponibilidad de área donante, pueden ser necesarias varias tomas de la misma zona. Analytic high-order Douglas–Kroll–Hess electric field gradients

In this work we present a comprehensive study of analytical electric field gradients in hydrogen halides calculated within the high-order Douglas-Kroll-Hess (DKH) scalar-relativistic approach taking picture-change effects analytically into account. We demonstrate the technical feasibility and reliability of a high-order DKH unitary transformation for the property integrals. The convergence behavior of the DKH property expansion is discussed close to the basis set limit and conditions ensuring picture-change-corrected results are determined.
